| Omg yes I have seen a ton of forums where you can't post in a topic that's older than a month. Why? Why is that bad? There will always be people who want to talk about that subject matter. Why start a new thread, when one is already made? Sillyness! |

| so i found a couple new rp partners about a week ago, and we've been rping over chat normally not a big deal, but they've been rping together for like 10 years so i'm the outsider here. anyway i'm really getting annoyed with the waiting to find out if we're going to move on with the story or wait on someone to get their shit together. I mean yeah life is there and all it's important but this is a chat based rp, not like it takes a ton of time, but i wanted to wait for days on end for a reply i'd use forums instead of chat. it's just silly. so im pissed off about that and i really wanna drop them both. |

| RP Forums were always a hassle for me.
I joined the Magical Girl Confessions forum and was really hyped about the rp section. I made a character for that that was really well liked, and I went to great lengths to highly her personality and powers.
But when so much as one person disappears it throws a wrench in any major storyline, especially since this one happened to have a school setting that required all of the attending students to reply to it.
There was one person whose internet connection was so bad that they had to have a friend post replies for them, then eventually both of them vanished.
General activity plummeted and now that forum is dead. |

This! And also another thing I had come around in a forum couple of years ago, if you dared to reply a thread you had already replied instead of editing your previous post in a limit of one day, your post was deleted and an angry admin would call you out as a spammer! and it was not even a big enough forum, the activity was like a bit stronger than in this one, but to wait a whole day to reply to a threat because you had already replied to it and then called a spammer in a rude way, was what killed that forum in a matter of days. |

| If I learned anything from my time as an admin in an anime-related forum was that - random threads are most popular - too many rules about posting (except from the typical: no spam, no pornographic content, be nice) can kill a small forum faster than it was created. for example in another forum I am member in (sexual orientation related) and it has over 100.000 active members, I can understand the no revival of old posts, but even there the limit is like over 6 month old posts, and it works because posts of the same subject pop up every other week, due to the fact that nobody is going to search in the chaos of posts to find a related topic. forum rules only work when they are properly adjusted to the size of each and everyone of them. --- Another rant:some people who supposedly raised a question to open discussions, only for them to refuse to listen to any reason that opposes their already shaped opinion, only to show that they somehow care of the matter pffft, but dont give two flying F's to learn about the issue at hand before they shape their opinion. concept at hand that had me flipping mad! talk about a certain Japanese theatre and its strict rules, including one about the performers must be unmarried. first he equaled marriage to love and/or happiness, secondly he is oblivious of cultural difference and how is marriage seen in Japan, he is oblivious of the work ethics of Japan, and why the concept works because of that. And he came to a conclusion that the fans are not fans enough because we support such a strict system of rules. And then he refuse to see any explanation as a valid reason for the strictness, and he started chanting viva la revolution |

| I am so mad. I made a post on my personal Tumblr -- an UNTAGGED post mind you -- criticizing a rather popular series. I was honestly just venting. I guess I forgot that you can find untagged posts via the search feature, because I did mention the series by name.
Anyway, a bunch of people -- a group of friends from the looks of it, because they all lived in Quebec -- began reblogging my post making fun of me in French. I don't know French, but I can tell they're making fun of me through use of words like "lmao", "bizarre", "memes", etc. And the one person did say "know your classics" in English, so clearly they intended for me to be able to read that line.
My post was in English, so clearly, they all knew English. And instead of making their posts readable to me, they just started speaking another language, because they assumed I would be too stupid to know that they're making fun of me.
I'm just really upset by how freaking rude they were. I blocked all of them, and I deleted the original post -- I will never speak ill of that series ever again. The fanbase is rabid. |

| Imagine that someone asks you if you want to drink alcohol in a party and you say you don't like alcohol, then they treat you as a kid... There is a law who don't let you dislike alcohol when you have 16 years or more? No? I thought so... It's so annoying |

| That reminds me so much of the anime fandom where they get all huffy if you don't like an anime that they do. "If you didn't like it, why did you watch it?"
And you just know that if you didn't watch it, they'd call you out on that, telling you that you can't have a valid opinion on something without watching it/completing it.
The Madoka fandom is a special kind of infuriating about this because of the show's deceptive dark tone. In a show that revels in pulling the wool over people's eyes, they expect you to know what you're getting into and then have the nerve to mock you for being displeased with the result. "You could have researched it first."
NO, you couldn't have. These people clearly watched it after it aired, cause when it first came out there was quite a bit of effort to hide the show's true nature. So unless you knew who Gen Urobuchi (whose involvement they attempted to hide for this exact reason) was or caught wind of what he does, it's very understandable to go in not expecting THAT.
Plus the show is spoiler overdose so researching it should actually be discouraged. |

I'm 19 (The legal drinking is 18 in Australia) so I can't relate 100%, but I don't drink. And trust me, when you're from a family of people who LOVE their alcohol and you've got a stubborn mule for a brother who is utterly convinced by a bizarre misinterpretation of some random comment you made when you were 12 years old that you have some sort of wrong-minded moral stance that prevents you from wanting to drink alcohol and is determined to 'prove you wrong' things start to get very annoying very fast. Around the beginning of the year I went to a wedding which of course meant a wedding party which of course meant everyone got pissed. I turned down all offers for alcohol and just ordered a coke which should be perfectly fine right? I'm allowed to do that right? No, it's not okay apparently. And my brother was more stubborn than ever that night trying to get me to have a drink. It was a pretty awful night. Me, the kids and a few other people who don't drink were pretty much the only ones who weren't completely hammered by the end of it. |

| I like to have a drink every once in awhile. A drink. As in one. I rarely get seconds. It makes me feel a bit jumpy, but other than that I am fine. But I will never EVER get drunk! I don't see the fun in getting hammer. I would like to remember what I did the night before. Throwing up isn't fun either. The same goes for headaches. I will never understand bar culture. Wooo we're sitting a place and drinking. Wooo let's go to another bar and do the same thing. Woooo!! SO MUCH FUN!! I get that it's a place for socializing, but there other places where you can do that. And actually do fun things!
I feel the same about night clubs. WOOO LET'S GO DANCE IN A HUDDLE AND LISTEN TO REALLY SHITY BLARING MUSIC.
As for shows and movies. I understand why people watch things they don't like. A lot people like to watch something to have a valid opinion on something. That's why I kept watching Crystal. But I stop near the end because it was torture. It didn't help that the Black Moon arc is my least favorite arc. Some people watch it for entertainment. It's so bad it's good. Hell I do it to my favorite anime Cardcaptor Sakura. It's so much fun to riff. Some people do it to rain on people's parades. That's the internet for ya. The best thing to do is avoid people who are being jerks. |
