- The breast groping thing is one of Nozomi's personality quirks in some of the early episodes but it's done for comedy rather than fanservice. Even if it does annoy you, I can't imagine it'd be anything more than a minor annoyance at worst.
Even if it is done for comedy, it's still unacceptable to me. I can't fathom how people would think something like that is acceptable behavior! If someone did that to me, I'd call the police on them! Regardless of the intent, its still sexual harassment! Yeah, sorry for the off-topic tangent. |

| It's not like the show is encouraging the viewers to go out and grope highschool girls. Characters with personality quirks that aren't socially acceptable have been a staple of all different forms of comedy forever.
If they held Mr Bean accountable for all the horrible things he'd done, he'd be locked away for an awful long time. |

That was one of the things that put me off from trying Love Live. I kinda expected Nico (being rather flat chested) to be safe from that, but according to a friend of mine who watched the show, she's the prime target for that. It's a seinen targeted work so it makes sense that it would have those things, even if in light doses. Then there's this art style... So uncute it hurts. I guess if the show handles its characters and story well I can respect it, but if it's just gonna feel like another slice of life show with idol singers, I'll stick with Aikatsu. |

If by 'Slice of Life show with idols' you mean spending most of its time stuffing around with episodic adventures about daily idol life like Idolm@ster then no Love Live is not like that. It's very much focused on the story and characters. |

| I think thats why I liked Love Live! It was still Moe as heck, but it had heart and it had focus and a bit of drama. Also, the ending song of episode 1 where Honoka dances in traffic broadway style made me laugh really hard. I also liked the bit with the Eri? where she's like all dramatic and crying "I filmed you and put you online so you would realize how bad at dancing you were. But you wouldn't stop! I wanna save the school too but do you expect me to be a stupid idol? and what? teach you how to dance??" everyone:"well, yes, actually! could you please?" XD - Rlinksoul wrote:

| So, after making attempts to watch various idol anime, both of the magical and non-magical variety, I can safely say that I just do not like it. For a variety of reasons: 1. They have a tendency to sing the same song every episode, and that's just incredibly boring to me. I also find that a lot of the music is really bland. Actually, I talked to my friend from Japan about this -- she doesn't like idol anime, either -- and she said that a lot of the time, the singers to these songs sound really really bored. I couldn't tell as well as she can at first because I'm not a native Japanese speaker, but after she pointed it out to me... I can't unhear it now. They do sound really bored. 2. Because the seiyuus are usually picked for their singing voice and not their acting talent, they often sound really bad. I've noticed a trend that the protagonists in idol anime tend to have deeper voices than protagonists in other shoujo shows, and... Maybe it's because I'm used to the high pitched kawaii voices, but I just don't like the deep voices that idol protagonists tend to have. I think the worst one was Lucia from Mermaid Melody -- she sounded just awful. 3. Because I know that the idol industry is actually a pretty horrifying one, what with contractual purity and other stuff, the whole genre just feels predatory to me. A lot of these shows target young girls, and they glamorize a life that is... Really not as good as it sounds. Now, I can't really say that America doesn't do this too -- there are SO MANY kidcoms on Nickelodeon and Disney Channel that involve show business -- but that doesn't mean I have to like it. It just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. 4. This is going to sound incredibly petty, but... I really just don't like how there's this huge surge of idol shoujo anime right now, and there's barely any magical girl anime. The only two magical girl anime I can think of that are current are Sailor Moon Crystal and Mahou Tsukai Precure. I mean, it makes sense -- the magical girl genre has been going since the 60's, so it's only natural that they ran out of ideas for it. But still, I love mahou shoujo so much, so I hate seeing something I don't like taking it's place. So... Yeah. That's my feelings on idol anime. That being said, I do at least appreciate how cute the costumes they wear are, and I frequently reblog Aikatsu and Pripara GIFs on my kawaii blog. Oh! And one more thing, since this was being talked about in the thread... About the whole boob groping thing. I found out from my friend in Japan that this is actually INCREDIBLY common over there. It's just considered a normal and funny joke over there to grope your friends -- often while commenting that they've "gotten bigger" and they must be drinking a lot of milk. Female friendships in general in Japan are a lot closer than Western ones -- it's called Class S. A lot of those yuri-like friendships in anime aren't intended to be queerbaiting at all; just typical Class S. It's not uncommon for young girls to hold hands, hug, and even kiss each other without actually being gay. But I digress; yeah, as weird as the breast groping thing is, I don't think it's really intended to be super perverted or anything like that. It's just a joke that doesn't translate well across borders. |

| I actually like Idols Anime, but I only seen two of them and they are also Magical Girl Anime. The Idols Anime I seen are Fancy Lala and Mermaid Melody. My favorite one would have to be Fancy Lala though because it's more relatable and I just love 90s Anime too. |

| The one idol show I have seen is Love Live (watching Sunshine S2 now), Hanayo is my favourite out of all of them, her voice is just so cute. I love her image song too -
