Are there any magical girl shows out there that are worth a watch? Or any coming out in the future? I feel like the genre has been lacking lately. Please don't suggest SMC or Precure.

Latest one I have watched was Yuki Yuna is a Hero. It was pretty good and made me cry my eyes out. Which is odd because I'm really not into who deconstruction magical girl thing.

Same. Specifically interested in ones for kids. Cute, fun things.

It seems like lately the only magical girl shows we're getting are...

-Dark and edgy suffering stuff following the lead from Madoka, where the powers come at a terrible price and the characters are child soldiers/sacrifices.

-Lolicon-bait otaku shows like Fate/Prism-whatever and Lyrical Nanoha Vivid.

-And more Precure and SMC.

-Still no Miraculous Ladybug.

I'm at the point where I'm running out of older magical girl shows I WANT to watch, and instead watching things because there's nothing else. I'm about ready to just jump ship for a while and go watch some Jewelpet to get my fill of cute, fun and idealistic stuff.

There's always Robot Girls Z and Houkago no Pleiades which are currently airing. If you stretch your definition of mahou shoujo you also can add Show by Rock!!, Pripara, Aikatsu! and Etotama. There's a new Symphogear coming in summer but that's all I know of currently.

there's AK Magical Girls, this new offering from China

it's basically a Suite Precure ripoff. It's not the greatest, but it is new

Then there's Lolirock, which aside from French, is now available in English and Spanish

Haven't been keeping up with it, but from what I've seen. it's quite fab

Little Charmers, a Nick Jr. show about tiny witches

It's more along the lines of new Strawberry Shortcake, cept with magic


Also, this new show from Nick Jr., Shimmer & Shine, will be out sometime in the future.

I've seen a bit of Lolirock. I enjoyed it. So it's I'm English now? Great I have to look for it.

Kill la Kill is a good magical girl anime.
