I haven't watch Love Live, but music it's pretty cute :D Only "Idol Anime" that I have watched is Creamy Mami & Fancy Lala, I tried one that wasn't Magical girl, that it's call "Youkoso Yoko", but it wasn't really interesting :c Now I wanna watch other "retro anime" from the same company that is call "Idol Densetsu Eriko".

This seems relevant to the conversation.
I am greatly enjoying idol anime, especially PriPara. Aikatsu is fun too.

I've attempted to watch idol anime, but never really got into it. I see it a lot on Tumblr, though, and it looks really adorable, so I may try again.

I think I like the characters more than the shows itself. I was never a huge fan of music, so I watched them more for the character interactions and the things they go through on the path to stardom.
I watched fifteen episodes of the Idolmaster anime, mostly because I wanted to see the five idols I thought were precious (Makoto, Yayoi, Hibiki, Iori, Yukiho) but there were just too many characters being focused on at once to really hold my interest.
About a year ago I decided to give Aikatsu a try and good lord that show was adorable. I really liked this cutified, innocent take on the idol singer genre. Fans who aren't creepy perverts, no stereotypical mean girl rivals. Even the characters I thought I wouldn't like ended up being really great.
But... it just wasn't enough. I felt like the show lacked substance. It's cute, but not a whole lot else. The CGI dance segments were nice looking, but they (and the songs) didn't interest me. I mostly just skipped them since aside from one time Ichigo trips during a song, nothing story-related happens during them.
I watched a good 20 episodes and my only regret is that I didn't get to see this cuteness.
By now there are so many characters I don't recognize.
The only thing considered an idol anime that I really like and watched to completion is Creamy Mami, since it's more about her having to maintain the double-life than about songs and dance. It allows the show to be much more character driven and focus more on development when they don't have to work in a three minute song and dance number.

I like idol anime in concept - like if they made a super big artbook of idol anime character designs with complete profiles and whatever I'd be happy with just that
However sometimes the shows can get stale. But I like to give each the benefit of the doubt and try them
and I recently watched Love Live! I was surprised at how much I really liked it
Oh! and Macross! I love the whole Macross franchise, even though it's mostly a mech show at heart - the idol segments of it are the best part to me.

Only if you don't like cute girls(or boys) dancing and singing J-pop. There's also quite a bit of slice of life goings on as well as some insight into what goes on behind the scenes with managers and such.

The only two idol anime I really like are Fancy Lala and Aikatsu, though Fancy Lala does it better with its more realistic outlook on it. Aikatsu's nice, but everything goes too smoothly most of the time (I ADORE Akari and Yurika, though!). I tried watching Creamy Mami but it just wasn't for me. Plus other idol anime didn't interest me.

Too smoothly like no major conflict? They don't fail at what they do? That kind of thing?
I only watched up to episode 20 and it kinda makes me nervous when I see tons and tons of gifs/pics of the show and I can't recognize ANY of the characters. I'm sure the episode count is in the 100s but what happened? Did they do another season starring an entirely different cast?

It depends on the show really.
As far as my own experience goes, Love Live is the best. Since the show is just a bunch of girls trying their hardest to achieve their dreams (Saving their school in S1, Going for the Love Live in S2) the show doesn't even go near the weird side of idol culture. The first season had some pacing issues and I could have probably done without the melodrama towards the end but overall it was still a really fun, endearing series.
Season 2 did basically everything right. The plot kept on moving forward, the drama was consistently well written, A-RISE made for some oddly likeable rivals, all the girls got a good chunk of character development and the performance scenes were even better than in Season 1. The only issue I have is that they ended it on a big cliffhanger to lead into the movie. But the movie does look really good so I'm looking forward to it (It's only a bit over a month away now)
I used to really like Idolm@ster, but now I'm not so sure. I really enjoyed the 25 episode adaptation even though they're obviously glossing over the weird side of idol culture. I also enjoyed the movie but some of the drama was just plain bad. And then comes Cinderella Girls with a really bland cast that ranges from 'kind of cute' to downright unlikeable and repeats the exact same mistakes as the movie to an even worst degree. I don't even know what to make of the series anymore.
Don't get me started on WUG.
Aikatsu was cute from what I remember. Going to have to watch more before I decide what to think of the series though.

I've heard good things about Love Live, but I hear it has...boob fondling in it. Sorry, but I stay away from any shows that have that, so no thanks.

The breast groping thing is one of Nozomi's personality quirks in some of the early episodes but it's done for comedy rather than fanservice. Even if it does annoy you, I can't imagine it'd be anything more than a minor annoyance at worst. They only make the joke a few times in Season 1 and in Season 2 it's never even brought up. I assume the movie will be the same.
Shows packed to the brim with creepy fanservice are a good way for a struggling animation studio to make a quick buck. But you don't get Love Live levels of success if adult male otaku are the only ones buying. DxD and Prisma Illya might have three seasons under their belt, but the sales aren't even a tenth of what Love Live has.
