Ya know, with Happiness Charge Precure coming up and the characters are being revealed, I keep wondering what the character dynamic will be.

One of the things I always liked about the original Pretty Cure is its "Opposites Attract" theme what with Nagisa being an Outspoken, Pessimistic Sports Jock and Hanoka being the Polite, Optimistic Science Nerd and how they wouldn't really have the chance to be friends if it wasn't for the impending doom they have to destroy. There's some initial clashes of course, but by the end they're BFFs

The different Kinds of friendship are sort of an ongoing theme of course, and I like how each one tries something different each time. Some are stronger than others I think

Splash Star - Girls who met in childhood, were separated, and came together again without much initial conflict.

Precure 5 - 5 different personalities and ages, all sort of chosen by their leader. Like Futari wa, they probably wouldn't all be friends if not being drawn together by Nozomi.

Fresh  - 3 childhood BFFs, go to different schools but are close regardless. Trials and conflict come when a 4th person enters the inner circle.

Heartcatch - Another Opposites attract. This time with more personality clashing with Erika's outgoing in your face attitude and Tsubomi who's just trying to break out of her shell.

Suite - Childhood friends but stopped their friendship due to a misunderstanding.

Smile - 5 girls that get along just fine

DokiDoki - Everyone is brought together due to their love bond with Mana.


I think that's why Smile and DokiDoki have felt a bit...hollow to me. There's not much to analyze between the characters. 

I'm hoping the new season will bring more clashing personalities. When characters are drawn to each other due to their own personal conflicts and they have their opposite opinions, its more interesting to me.

I have only seen 5 episodes of splash, but I love the dynamic between Saki and Mai so far. I like how Saki encourages Mai.

I like the dynamic in Fresh. It's shame Buki and Miki kind of got the short end of the stick.

I watched a little bit of 5, but their friendship seems like Sailor Moon. XD The four other girls are drawn to the leader.

I like the idea that Suite presented, but to me it failed. :/ I kind of wish they had a better reason to stop talking to each other. But hey it's a little girl show can't be expecting much.

I agree with Ami in how Yes 5's dynamic is a bit like Sailor Moon's, with all of them gravitating towards Nozomi, and I like that they included episodes that focused on the bonds between the other four. (Rin/Karen, Karen/Komachi, and Komachi/Urara)

I really like Love and Setsuna's dynamic in Fresh, I just with it didn't have to come with Miki and Inori fading into the background... (although Miki is my favorite out of the four...)

I didn't like Heartcatch's dynamic between Tsubomi and Erika at first, but now it's my favorite friendship in Precure. 

Hibiki and Kanade's dynamic in Suite caused me to skip episodes 3 through 34...

I haven't seen enough Smile to have an educated opinion....

Dokidoki's dynamic reminds me of Yes 5's, but without as much focus on their relationships outside of Mana. (I also don't see the "Mana's Harem" dynamic at all.... although I've never been a big fan of lesbian shipping...)
