Also known as Fairy Musketeer/s, this 2006 anime was created by Studio Madhouse, the makers of Cardcaptor Sakura.
If you're a fan of fairy tale motifs, this show should be pure fanservice for you. Fairy Tales are the core of this series. Not only does the plot have a lot to do with fictional fairy tales exclusive to the series, but the show's characters and setting are heavily based on real life fairy tales.
The main characters are a combination of the Three Musketeers, and Little Red Riding Hood, Snow White and Sleeping Beauty. There are many other fairy tale characters involved in this show, some familiar, some obscure.
The show a pretty great voice cast including fan favorites such as
Yukari Tamura (Nanoha)
Motoko Kumai (Syaoran of CCS fame),
Nobiyuki Hiyama (Viral of Gurren Lagann)
and of course Rie Kugimiya as the nagging tsun-tsun character.
Common complaints about the show include that it's pretty childish, even for this genre and I can understand. Even I can agree, but this is one of those shows that picked me up from a depressing time, so I'm glad to have it in all its childish glory. The latter half of the series does get darker in tone, but that doesn't make it any better than the former half.
