This a two person RP between Ami and Maikemi. Miraculous Ladybug: Secret Admirer is an exploration of the show. Expanding the plot with more mature elements.

Marinette was laying in bed reading a book. Her phone buzz so she looked down saw it was a text from Alya. Her friend was asking her if she wanted to see a movie tomorrow night. Marinette smiled and replied yes. She then went back to her book.

Back at Alya's house she grinned at her friend's response. She then called Nino. 

"Yo!" her classmate replied.

"Nino," Alya spoke. "She said yes. Did you ask Adrien about tomorrow?"

"Yep!" Nino replied enthusiastically. "He said yes."

"Great! Told him the time and place?"

"Yep!"

"Prefect. Hopefully this will go well. Talk to you later."

"Bye."

The next night Marinette walked over to the local movie theater. She stood outside waiting for her friend. She glanced around wondering what was taking Alya. She wasn't normally late for things.

Adrien glanced at his phone in the small span of time that his father and their photographer were having a rather heated debate on how he should pose in the next outfit. He had an hour and a half to meet Nino at the movie, and he wasn't sure when this surprise photo shoot would be over.  Unscheduled photo shoots were becoming a more common occurrence recently and he couldn't really ask how long it would take without his father possibly telling him to go straight home and study rather than having a relaxing evening.

Finally, they decided on a compromise and he slipped his phone on a table out of the shot before following the photographer's directions. A few more outfits to go and then he could head out to the movie. His father would be taking a separate car to finish up a few more designs in peace.

The shoot ended an hour later and Adrien had his driver rush him to the movie theater as quickly as possible. Nino knew how his dad was and would probably understand why he was late, but Adrien didn't want to be the reason they missed the beginning moments of the movie. Thankfully, they arrived with five minutes to spare.

"Thank you for driving.  The movie will be over in a couple hours," he told the driver while exiting the car.  

Adrien surveyed the front of the theater while ignoring the occasional stares of passing fans, not seeing Nino anywhere. That was weird... Nino was usually on time. Concerned, he pulled out his phone and had a quick glance at the Ladyblog to see if Alya was reporting live on any akuma attacks. He was satisfied when no new livestreams were available on the front page.

He scanned the front of the theater again and was about to go inside when he spotted Marinette also looking around for whoever she was meeting. Adrien smiled and walked up next to her. "Hey, Marinette. Are you meeting someone too?" he asked.

Marinette was going through through her phone and was about to call Alya. She then heard Adrien's voice. She jumped.

"Ah! Adrein," Marinette replied almost dropping her phone. "Uh..." He was just standing there smiling at her. She felt her heart melting away. She then felt Tiki hitting her side through her purse."Oh! I was waiting for Alya. We planned to see a movie, but she's late. What about you?"

Adrien took a moment to marvel at their similar situation before answering.  "I was going to see a movie with Nino.  I wonder what's holding them up." 

Adrien glanced at his phone.  It was almost time for the movie and still no Nino or Alya. Suddenly, his phone vibrated with a text.  Adrien frowned. Apparently, something came up and Nino couldn't make it.  Well, he could just go home...

"Looks like Nino can't make it..  So, what movie are you seeing with Alya?"  His question was mostly out of curiosity (not wanting to impose on their evenin), but he wouldn't turn down an invite if they offered.

"I, uh," Marinette stuttered. She then heard her phone vibrate. She glanced down and message popped up on the screen. It was message from Alya saying good luck. She bit her lip. She planned this. "We were going to go see Star Wars, but I just got a message from Alya. She can't make it either." Marinette paused. Should she? This was Alya's plan..Might as well! She played video games with this boy after all! "Would you like to see Star Wars with me? I mean we might as well since we're here!" She laughed nervously trying to stay calm.

Adrien perked up a bit at her answer.  He and Nino were also going to see Star Wars before Nino canceled.  He wondered if his friend would mind if he saw it with Marinette instead. Suddenly his phone vibrated again, and Adrien looked at the message to find Nino seemed to have read his mind.  His friend was telling him to enjoy the movie if he still went to see it..

"Sure!  Nino and I were going to see Star Wars too.   Let's go get our tickets."

With that, they entered the theater and got their tickets and popcorn from the concessions.

Marinette followed Adrien into the theater. When they got their tickets and the popcorn, Adrien paid for both of them. Marinette's mind exploded with the what ifs. Usually the man will buy stuff at the movies during dates. Which meant this was a date!? She slowly lost her confidence as they climb the stairs in the theater. Right when they found their seats, Marinette told Adrien that she needed to use the bathroom real quick. She ran down the stairs and left the theater. She ran into the bathroom and stood in front of the mirror. She took several deep breaths. 

"What's wrong, Marinette?" Tiki asked flew out of Marinette's purse. She checked to make sure no one was around first.

"I don't know if I can do this."

"But you gone to the movies with him before."

"Yes, but with our friends. I didn't even get to sit next to him. Nino beat me to it."

"You sat next to him at that mime performance."

"Yes, but he didn't pay for my ticket! This time he did! This is a totally a date now! Oh, god! What if we reach for the popcorn at the same time! What do I do? What if he thinks I'm rude! Then he'll never like me!!"

Tiki just rolled her eyes. She flew in front of her friend and patted her on the head. "Once again you're over reacting. Just chill. You two were alone in your room minus your parents interruptions. This should be a piece a cake!"

"You're right Tiki! I can do this!" Tiki just smiled at her friend and flew back into her purse. Marinette then left the bathroom and returned to her seat. "So um enjoying the commercials?" She was hoping this would break the ice. They were still showing commercials before the movie trailers. So it was okay to talk still.

"Finally giving up on Ladybug, I see."

Adrien jumped as Plagg poked his head out of his pocket.  Thankfully, they were in one of the back rows and there was no one looking. "Plagg!  Someone could have seen you!" He whispered in exasperation as he quickly shielded the kwami from view.  "And what do you mean I've given up on Ladybug?"

"Well, you paid for that Marinette girl's ticket and popcorn.  I thought humans only did that when they were serious about someone."

Adrien was quiet, suddenly worried he'd sent the wrong message to Marinette.  He was used to paying for things when he and Nino went places, despite Nino's protests.  It was the least he could do since he was rich and his fame would occasionally interrupt their good time by way of random fans and reporters.  "Do you think she'll think it's a date?  I don't even know if she likes me that way.  We haven't been hanging out for too long..."

He felt Plagg shift in his pocket as the kwami shrugged, "Who knows?  It's not my problem.  And it's not like it matters when it comes to you trying to be with Ladybug.  You might as well have a little fun dating someone else.  It's only cheating if the love of your life actually likes you back."

Adrien scoffed at Plagg.  It wasn't the first time he suggested something immoral and it wouldn't be the last time, but he was not the type of guy to lead someone on.  He'd have to say something to Marinette after the movie. She was smart, brave during akuma attacks, and was starting to remind him a little of Ladybug now that they actually spoke to each other, but his heart was set on Ladybug.  He'd rather make sure she wasn't deceived by his actions.

Plagg retreated back into Adrien's pocket right before Marinette came back. Adrien turned at her question and shrugged. "They're so-so. The preview trailers will be on soon.  Those are definitely more exciting."

"Yeah. I can't wait to see what's coming out this summer," Marinette spoke. She then looked at her hands. She didn't know how to carry on the rest of the conversation. As she was trying to figure out what to say the trailers started. The lights dimmed and it was time be quiet. She frowned. 

She leaned back in her chair. As she watch the trailers her mind began to wonder. She was wondering if Adrien would be up to do something after the movie. Getting dinner seem too much. So how about getting ice cream? Yes! That was a great plan! It seem innocent enough. The movie started and Marinette focused on the movie. She needed to so they could talk about it afterward.

Once the credits roll, Marinette took a deep breath. "So um, Adrien would you like to go get some ice cream?"

Adrien forced himself to focus on the screen as the movie opened with the iconic scrolling text across the screen. He really needed to figure out the best way to make sure Marinette knew this was not a date, but he also really wanted to enjoy the movie. So he let the thought slip and enjoyed watching the newest interpretation of the Star Wars universe.  

By the end of the movie, Adrien had almost forgotten he had anything to say to Marinette. The only reminder that he might be unintentionally leading her on came when she asked him to get ice cream with her. He smiled, internally berating himself for making the situation worse. "I'd love to. I'll have to let my driver know that I'll be walking home really quick. It shouldn't be a problem, though."

He could almost feel Plagg shaking with laughter in his pocket, but he ignored him. He would have to talk to her about it while they ate. There was still time to clear things up.

Marinette was screaming internally as they walked to ice cream shop. She can't believe he said yes. So maybe he does like her. As they walked she kept having to tell herself to calm down. She didn't want to come off as a total spazz. They made it to the ice cream shop and went inside. 

Again Adrien paid. They found a table and sat down. Marinette focused on her strawberry ice cream. She still wasn't sure what to say to him. She then remembered the movie. When she spoke up, Adrien did as well. 

"I'm sorry," Marinette apologize. "You go first." She gave him a shy smile.

Before Adrien could say anything she heard crashing noise. She turned and saw Nino getting up from the floor. He tripped and knocked over a table from the far back. Alya was with him watching him picking the table back up. She then turn her attention back to Adrien. "Excuse me." She got up from her seat and went over to her friend.

"Alya," she hissed. "What are you doing here?"

"Just wanted to make sure things were running smoothly," her friend replied with a nervous laugh.

"With Nino?"

"He helped me plan. He was the one who asked Adrien to go to the movies."

"What..?" Marinette had a slow realization that Nino knew about her crush.

"Are you alright, sir?" an employee asked Nino interrupting their conversation.

"Yeah," Nino replied. "I tripped over my shoe laces. No biggie." 

After the employee, Marinette just let out a sigh. So much for being on a date with Adrien. There was no way they could ignore their friends. "Well, you guys might as well join us."

"You sure?" Alya asked.

"Yes." Marinette and co then walked back Adrien. "So what were you going to say, Adrien?" She asked him they sat back down at the table.

Adrien bit his lip as he looked towards the sound of the crash and saw Nino and Alya. So both of them couldn't make it to the movie but were now spying on them in an ice cream shop?  Was he missing something here?

Marinette bringing them over to the table was unfortunate. There was no way he was going to tell her that they were not on a date in front of their friends. Doing so if she actually did like him would be both disappointing and embarrassing for her. He desperately wanted to stay friends after letting her know he wasn't interested.  After all, she had recently tried to cheer him up by giving him her lucky charm during practice for the video game tournament, and she was worried about him during the akuma attack. She might actually really care about him...

Adrien quickly searched his mind for an excuse when she asked him what he was going to say. "Oh, I was just going to comment on the movie.  But these two haven't seen it yet, so maybe we should talk about something else," he said. It was the best save he could think of, and it fit what was going on.

Marinette just nodded her head and went back to staring at her ice cream. Nino then started up the conversation about some band he discovered. He got out his phone and played their music. After listening to the song, they all started watching funny videos on Youtube. Time flew by and it was getting late. Marinette and Alya left the shop together since they lived near each other.

"Sorry for ruining your date," Alya spoke up, when they were afar way from the ice cream shop. "Nino can be such a klutz sometimes."

"It's fine," Marinette replied. "..Would you really called it a date?"

"He paid for your ticket and food."

"Eek! Alya, you were at the movies too?"

"Well of course. Like I said I wanted to make sure it would go smooth. If you were looking like a dork I would have stepped in and saved you."

Marinette smiled at her.

"Now, I will say this. There is a chance it wasn't date. Nino was telling me that Adrien pays for everything when they hang out."

"Of course..Why am such an idiot for thinking that it was!?"

"You are not! I'm just trying to help you look at this realistically."

"Then why did you do all of this?"

"So you can get use to talking to him alone. If you ever want to make the first move you need to able to talk to him. You did fine when you were playing video games with him. So you need to keep it up!"

Marinette nodded her head. "Do you really think I should make the first move?"

"Yes because boys can be oblivious." The two girls then laughed.

Adrien and Nino left the shop and headed in the opposite direction toward Adrien's house. "So, how was the movie with Marinette?" Nino asked a little too enthusiastically.

"It was fun.  You know, Marinette's gotten a lot more confident recently, and I'm glad we get to hang out more."

Nino nodded. "You two seem to get along really well. You said you had fun gaming with her too. Could there be a love in your future?" he asked with a nudge and a big grin.

Adrien grimaced. If that's the way it came off to his best friend, how did it look to Marinette?  He could see Nino frown at his expression. "I don't know...  Nino, what would you do if you liked a girl who was not interested in you and then you started hanging out with another girl who you didn't think you were interested in but you get along with really well?"

Nino stared at him in confusion. Adrien had never indicated he was interested in anyone. "Since when have you liked someone?  Who is it?"

"It doesn't really matter who," Adrien answered quickly. He couldn't exactly say he was in love with Ladybug after implying that they interacted enough for her to not be interested in him. "I just need an answer to that question."

Nino raised an eyebrow and shrugged, "I guess I would get to know the other girl better since the first girl doesn't seem interested. Especially, if she's rejected me before. Does this mean you're going to hang out with Marinette more?"

Adrien was quiet. He had ignored Plagg earlier because sometimes Plagg's opinions weren't great, but Nino was his best friend and he trusted his advice. But that meant potentially giving up on Ladybug... He shook his head, "I do want to hang out with her more, but... I don't know.  I need to think about it."

Nino looked ready to say something but didn't get the chance before they turned and stopped in front of Adrien's house. "My dad might be home. I guess I'll see you later." Nino nodded and they parted ways with Adrien typing in the combination to the gate in front of his home and Nino walking the other way.

Adrien was surprised to find his father at the top of the stairs as he entered the door.  Usually his father was so absorbed in his work that he didn't notice if Adrien came home a little later than usual. This was not one of those times.

"Adrien, where have you been? You were supposed to come straight home. I have some new designs that need to be fitted for the show next week."

Adrien paused, internally groaning. He had completely forgotten the fashion show next week. His father wanted everything done by this weekend so they didn't have to rush later. "I'm sorry. I forgot that was scheduled tonight. I was invited to a movie with a friend.."

"A movie with a friend? You have a strict schedule to adhere to. There is no time for movies. I had to push back everything tomorrow just to make sure these clothes get fitted in time. If you're so invested in things like movies, you should have Nathalie put them in your schedule with at least a week's notice. Also, you know how I feel about that one friend of yours who back talked me on your birthday," his father said, crossing his arms.

Adrien stared at him. So now his friends had to go through Nathalie just to hang out with him? "I'm sorry.  I'll make sure I let you know next time. Can I go to my room now?"

His father narrowed his eyes at him but nodded. "Just remember, you need to come straight home tomorrow so we can get everything in."

He sighed. "Yes sir."  With that, he headed up to his room.
