| So I just started watching Pretear last night. I'm not sure what the plot is exactly, but three episodes in there's an entourage of bishounens and a couple little kids who have magical powers. They're trying to stop these demon larva creatures that are scattered around the world, some evil princess has escaped from a seal, and the bishounen team needs the help of some girl known as the Pretear in order to stop them.
So then we have this girl named Himeno, her bumbling drunk author father recently married the queen of money and now she lives in a giant lonely mansion with two step-sisters who hate her. Needless to say she ends up being the Pretear in question.
One thing that's interesting about this series is how she transforms. One member of the bishounen team actually fuses with her, granting her their respective powers, and a different costume each time.
Three episodes in and I'm not bored at all. Aside from one of the older step-sisters nobody relevant is unlikable so far. Definitely gonna keep watching. It's only 13 episodes after all. |

| Pretear for me, I like the concept more than the execution. (Like reverse harem + magical girl + shoujo drama, yes please!)
I saw it in High School, so I really don't remember why, there was just something about how it all unfolded that just left a "meh" impression
maybe I just need to rewatch it XD |

| I watched this series on a whole night. It was pretty nice, animation was uniform between episodes. I really like Opening Theme, but ending theme was a little boring to me. The story is nice, but not every character got the Character Development that they deserve. Love Triangle was probably most interesting plot, I also like that they made a confident Himeno at the begin and then she became a scare Himeno, cause she truly understand that was a life or death mission and not a game. BTW last episode give me a Sailor Moon impression. Everyone saying "Himeno" and she getting a Power up xD |

| Oh wow, I never replied to this thread after finishing the show? What a surprise.
It's funny, I was really enjoying the show in the first six episodes or so, but once the actual plot kicked in, I found myself rolling down a hill of disappointment.
I've mentioned before that I have an immense dislike of characters being so totally in love that their entire identity is thrown out the window, especially when it comes to antagonist characters.
Finding out ABSOLUTELY nothing about the main antagonist aside from them being a former magical girl who loved the brooding blue haired guy, only to have her feelings turned down and "her whole world fell apart" really bothered me. Wasn't this person a high school student? Didn't they have friends? Or parents? Are you really gonna tell me that some guy you just met is so important to you that your reason for living crumbles just because they won't date you?
And then the show uses this kind of thing as a plot device two more times, who's willing to betray his own team because he's so blindly in love with the main antagonist, and the lonely girl who listens to audio books. She was so bland that I felt absolutely no emotions from her story or the attempt to rescue her. If anything the actions of the other characters during that whole thing interested me more.
Also the comic relief got so tiresome after a while, particularly involving the short bald man. The stuff with the snobby older sister getting thrown around was kinda funny. I hear the manga did some things better and some things worse. Not interested either way. |

| I watched five and a half episodes of the anime, and I just started reading the manga today. So far, I prefer the manga. My problem with the anime, and the reason why I quit in the middle of episode six, was the fact that it seemed to have some issues with tone. It was trying to be serious, but also funny at the same time. It made watching it a little confusing, especially during episode six when sometimes a scene would have drama AND slapstick in it at the same time. The manga, on the other hand... While it does have a few jokes here and there, it's a lot more serious than the anime. One big example is Mayune. In the anime, at least from what I've seen if it so far, she was mostly a comic relief character, always getting stuff dumped on her head and whatnot. In the manga, she's a serious threat, and you really see just how much of a jerk she is. Honestly, though, once I finish reading the manga, I think I'm going to go back and finish the anime. I've heard that it does get better around the halfway mark, which... I technically didn't even reach, so I didn't really give it enough time. Plus, I want to compare it to the manga. I've heard from fans of the anime that the way the manga ends is nowhere near as good. |

| I love Pretear and it's a very good series too. I watched all of the episodes of the Anime series and I am starting to read the Manga series. It's too bad that the Pretear Anime only has 13 episodes, but even though the series is short it's still a very good series to watch. |
