I'm kind of curious if anyone is still watching Sailor Moon Crystal. I noticed my dash on Tumblr isn't full with Crystal like it used to be. Also there isn't much discussion about the recent episodes here or on a Sailor Moon forum I belong to.

The last episode I watched was episode 19. I was able to watch episode 20, when it came out. I can't remember why. I think I was busy that day. I then read it was the exposition episode and I was like meh. I really don't need to learn that Chibusa is Usagi's kid again. Because of that I haven't picked up Crystal again. I think I'm completely done with Crystal. I will admit after the train wreck of Arc 1 Crystal has slightly picked itself up. It finally decided it was stick to the manga like it said it would in the first place. Because of that I nearly wanted to rip my hair our as I watched Arc 2. So many plot holes and Inners getting kidnap is so repetitive. I don't mind them getting kidnapped, but at least Toei could have mixed it up! You see Crystal could have fixed the glaring problems with the manga, but nope!

Oh, well! I can go out with the flaws with Crysal. XD

I stopped watching Crystal after 4 or 5 episodes of Arc 1.  As one of the few people that did not grow up watching Sailor Moon and first picked it up in high school, I can say that my dislike for it has nothing to do with nostalgia and everything to do with the writing and glaring animation issues.  Also, everything you've told me about it after I stopped watching has killed any initiative to try an pick up the series again.

There are still people who defend it on ANN as far as I can tell.  Sometimes I read the comments of the episode reviews.  Either there's a very small, dedicated fanbase somewhere on the internet, or ANN just brings in so many anime fans that there statistically has to be people who defend it on their forums.

Either way, it's too bad that Crystal didn't turn out well.  It would have been nice to have a shorter series to be able to marathon when I want a Sailor Moon fix.

You're best option is to either watch PGSM or watch the 90s anime in small doses. Like rewatch a whole arc then go back to a future arc later.

No need to hide! I don't care if people like Crystal. I will never understand how, but if you like a show you like a show!

i haven't watched crystal since the episode before the final of the first seasons or whatever. i keep meaning to but i just can't' read the subs and the voices kind of annoy  me.

I mostly like it because of how close to the manga it is. It was the fourth I read after Ranma 1/2 volume one, Urusei Yatsura the Perfect Collection and The Electric Tale of Pikachu volume one. That was a great day in Barnes and Nobel, so long ago. I also see if I can point out any differences that there are between Crystal and the manga, and its just kind of interesting to watch a show made on such a shoestring budget.

For the sake of the past, I tried, I DID.
-Animation: I was like...alrite, could've been better, hurts my eyes a bit but I could bear up with it.

-Voices: Well, not all the originals but we have Kotono-san...

-Plot: More to the manga, alrite plus 1...until holes...Well let's try to bear, they had continuity errors with Saint Seiya-Soul of gold too...(Cringe)

-On the first arc at least, they take too much damage when the manga and old anime they did not, seriously the are the SAILOR SENSHI, but that's just me.

-While I understand it was to cut episodes, the girls learn the attacks too quickly and use them too little, in my opinion.

-I miss the feeling of romance and mushy things I felt on the manga and before anime, here I'd say the mood swings too quick or they did not focus on it as before, Can't place my finger on it.

So no, dropped. Better luck next time...We hope.

I stopped watching Crystal after the 6th or so episode, the one where Beryl came out of the sky and Usagi was standing there, unwilling to do anything until Tuxudo Mask urged her.

I just decided it would be better to drop the series than to come episode after episode and have nothing but things to complain about. Crystal was an unfortunate victim of I don't even know what, and Sailor Moon didn't deserve to have THIS be its greatly hyped 20th anniversary thing.

I'm still watching it. for better or for worse. I just can't say 'no' to more Sailor Moon

the R season really is much better than the 1st one by the way

It grew on me, and I am enjoying Crystal, I am just waiting to see if they get to the outer senshi

You give me hope. I loved R it's my fave season of the original and I love it. I've seen pics of Diamond and I love what I see but Im not sure about a new voice. I like the one i have for him in my head and that could ruin a lot of well stuff. lol Yeah I have a problem with diamond ^^

I must admit, I stopped watching Crystal as soon as the Black Moon arc started. I was annoyed by the changes made to the Dark Kingdom arc, and since the Black Moon arc is my favorite, I didn't want to see what they would do. Admittedly, I've heard it's been better since then, so I might try watching it again, but... I don't know... I'm not a fan of the art style, either. I especially dislike the way they draw Chibiusa. I get that she's supposed to look like Mamoru, which is why her eyes are so square, but... It doesn't look cute at all, in my opinion. I don't know, I'm a huge fan of Chibiusa so seeing her look like that really bothers me.

I think the problem with the art style is it's trying to copy Naoko's style. Her style does not translate well into animation.

Not just that, but they didn't even copy it all the way... A lot of the goofy faces that were in the original anime were in the manga, too, but the character's expressions in Crystal are just so...lifeless. I've heard that it's because doing funny faces like that is no longer in style for anime, but I think it would've worked well in Sailor Moon. Made it more nostalgic in a way.

But then again. I saw the Usagi/Mamoru bedroom scene on YouTube, and it looks like they did try to put some expressions in there? But it was so far into the series I imagine it must've been really jarring. It would've been better to have them from the beginning.
