One of the less famous weapons in Nintendo's arsenal in the war against our wallets, Animal Crossing is kind of a slice of life game.
You assume the role of a human who is moving into a small town inhabited entirely by talking animals. You're given a house that you have to make payments on and you can have to manage your little town, keeping the flowers and trees looking nice, donating money to improve it, things like that.
I used to own the Wii Version back in the day, but I ended up Gamestopping it. I'm pretty sure there was something I was more interested in.
I wanted to take advantage of the Smash Sale and on the E-Shop and get a digital copy of New Leaf, but the money in my paypal account couldn't be used with my card (which has its own account) so I had to buy a physical copy online, which has just been shipped and should be here in the middle of next week.
This is fine though. I like having a physical copy better. Also also, one of my favorite features in New Leaf is the use of QR codes.
Now I can have m y character running around in various magical girl outfits, doing nice things like planting flowers to brighten up the days of fuzzy animal people.

New Leaf is the best version of Animal Crossing hands down. There is so much to do in it. Recently I played the Wii version and I got bored with it like after 2 minutes.
My copy of New Leaf arrived! Super fast too. I just paid for it Friday.
As of right now when I've decided to stop playing for today, I've gotten...
-My house paid for. -The shovel and bug net purchased. -A tremendous urge to hug Isabelle. -5000 Bells stored in the bank. -An intense desire to be able to turn off the babble speak the animal characters make.
I'm pretty eager to get a few things going, like...
-Custom hair and eye colors. -the QR codes outfit thing. -An item that can store things.
But I'll take my time and enjoy the ride until those things arrive.

I didn't stay into the game for a long time but I did have a lot of fun designing clothes on the orrigional animal crossing for the game cube :) I kind of want to play it again sometime, but i'm not sure where it went..
I'd save letters I sent between my characters in the game, too XD It was pretty awesome. I also had 2 nes games in my file too and i learned about fung sui in the game too :)
The DS game Wild World was...okay, i didn't get as much of a thrill from it.
But I hear new leaf is awesome. :) I hope i get to play it someday^^

Two days in and I'm really surprised with how much I'm enjoying this game.
Re-Tail was giving out extra money for Bell Crickets, so I spent hours catching lots of them, pretty easy to find. By the end of the day I stuffed all of my money into the bank and the result was over 100,000, and I had already made my first house payment.
And then... the game turned into a freaking survival horror. Scorpion chasing me literally across the entire map. From the bottom corner, all around the lake, all the way up to the gate where the monkey is stationed.
Finally got a 100% approval rating, now I can start expanding my town. Definitely need a new bridge.
Also, my town has apples.
Edit: I found a post where someone had the "Catch You Catch Me" from Cardcaptor Sakura as their town tune, and now it's my town's theme~ Super happy about that.

Day 5 and things are still going strong.
A friend of mine let me into their town and I was able to make use of the barber shop that still needs to be unlocked in my game. The look is almost complete.
All I need now is to get the hair a darker shade of brown (HATE how the mechanic for hair styling works in this game) and I need to get the eyes green. The poster directly to the left of the character depicts the OC that my villager is based on.
Speaking of the poster, the aforementioned friend sent me this awesome site for custom designs.
Here's an example of what to expect when using this site.
You can choose to work with up to 15 colors, each of which is assigned a specific number. By arranging your canvas (using the in-game tool that looks like a bottle of paint) you can easily access all of the colors you need to work with.
You can also see that the above picture is divided into four segments. You can zoom in on your design in progress and work on it segment by segment, adding little dots of color until the creation is complete. Just don't ever. EEEEEEEVER try to use a black and white picture for this. I learned my lesson. The pic hanging on the wall in the first one took over two hours. Not a pleasant experience.

It's been about two months since I got this game and I've made quite a bit of progress.
1 ) House completely paid for. Good lord hunting for beetles on the island was a game breaker. Now I'm one step away from having the full Fairy Tale themed house.
2 ) Nookling Store is at second to last stage. Someone gave me a super expensive Moon item, so in order to advance Nook's store, I just have to buy lots of those via the catalog.
3 ) All Silver Tools obtained. I've gotten all except two of the sea creatures, and many of the fish and bugs. I just have to wait for seasonal things to happen. I've also found nearly all of the fossils.
So today I was doing my usual rounds around town, finding the fossils and such. I came to the cliff end of town and found a strange flower sitting right on the edge. I had read about this on the Wiki and ran to the Mayor's office to confirm with Isabelle that this meant what I thought it meant.
Perfect Town status: GET!
I have no idea how it happened considering my town is a mess of disorganized, strewn about trees and dirt patches everywhere. But now I have to maintain it for fifteen days and I can get the gold watering can.
Once I get the gold axe I'm gonna start chopping down trees and replanting them in organized patterns. I've been storing saplings bought from the gardening shop for quite a while.

By the looks of it you build the town from the ground up. You pick where the villagers live and design their homes and yard. There will be a school which I am wondering if you'll get shops and such.
The town itself has cool looking landscapes. Beaches, rivers, mountains, islands, ect.
Sadly they didn't show your house, but I guessing you get one?
The game looks promising. I'm just worried about those ambiio cards. :/

I suck so much at arranging the furniture in my own house that I don't see myself doing good with that game, besides, Nintendo's already trying to take over the world, what with TWO Zelda games being announced at the same time.

I feel like this is a game for me. I love placing furniture in the Sim games, but I hate how a lot of the pieces don't match each other. At least in AC there's a lot of sets that blend together. Plus you have more control over placement. My concern is if you can you do other things? Does Nook pay you? This is your job after all.
Then we have the stupid Wii U board game that nobody wanted and of course it's all about ambiio. I have a feeling Isabel is going to be hard to find.

I love Animal Crossing so much. Actually, my first game was New Leaf. I wish I had played AC as a kid... My cousin played the Gamecube version as a kid and always wanted me to play with him, but I thought it was stupid. I'm glad I decided to give it a chance in the end, though. It's probably my favorite video game.
I'm also really looking forward to Happy Home Designer! Decorating my house is one of my favorite aspects of ACNL, so having a game dedicated to that should be fun.

A good series with a lot to do, this was by far amazing and very underrated! Like a harvest moon in its own way but with a different look and feel. HOWEVER there is one of these guys whom I really want to punch in the face...You may have my bells, but NEVER my soul!

I admit, when I first started playing New Leaf, I didn't understand why people hated Tom Nook so bad. He was so nice!
Then I tried playing Wild World. Yeesh, what a jerk. No wonder everyone hates him.

I decided to start a one-year challenge in New Leaf. I don't know the exact rules, but the basic gist of it is to start a town on January 1st, and see how much the town will develop in a year, while playing as naturally as possible. I don't know how long it will take before I lose interest, but it would be so awesome if I actually could play this for a whole year!

I definitely like the fact that characters in New Leaf are a lot less rude than in past games. For example, I hear the snow people can be quite nasty if you don't make them properly.
Instead when I tried to make the Snowmam and rolled a small snowball onto a large one, it turned into the SnowMAN with a tiny head and he was like "I was going to withhold my remark, but for your sake, I'll say it. UTTER. NONSENSE." I laughed.
Also, Toy Day made me so nettled. Rosie never gave me any hints as to what she wanted and I was ignoring Keaton cause I wanted him to move, so when it came down to the last three, I ended up with Diva wanting a yellow present and my bag having three items, two of them yellow.
I gave the golden cat thing to Diva and as luck would have it, that's what she wanted. I should have guessed Rosie didn't want a citrus table. Can't remember what the last thing was. Still, Jingle has no business lecturing me for not being careful if he's not going to tell me what everyone wants.
