An anime (or manga) I had been meaning to experience since the former first came out. The Arabian Nights theme brought back some Disney memories (Heck, the main character is even Aladdin, except he's a ten year old who loves boobies) but stuff like what I just mentioned now bothers me.
It seems to be a shounen action/adventure show and compared to the big three I was hoping it would be the next big shounen thing, but nope. What little I've seen of it is mostly the hardcore fighting skills of the third protagonist, moe slave girl Morgiana.
She's probably the main reason I was hoping this series became more successful. Female characters in shounen works tend to be relegated to damsel in distress or support/healer, so it's nice to see a shounen fighting anime where the ladies can fight just as hard as the men.
One thing I have noticed about the anime is that they super-sped the pacing. Chapter 30's events take place as early as episode SIX. I mean I'd be happy to not spend 30 episodes on a planet that's supposed to explode in five minutes, but the other extreme can be just as bad, especially since there's plenty of source material.
I assume this is the result of modern day anime budgets. I have noticed that in recent years there's been very little anime that extend past 12 episodes. Unless it's something like the annual Precure season, there's almost nothing that goes past 50, and don't even think about another 300 episode anime like Bleach.
