I was browsing tumblr and I saw this post about it.

Zelda: Four Swords Tumblr_n08bmjG9Nt1rvgh7bo1_500

I ran and grabbed my 2DS to see if it was really true, and it was! I was so amazed.

I still have my copy of the GBA Four Swords, which I used to play back when I had people around me to play it. I was the second person to get the game, so I was always designated the Red Link (hence the R at the beginning of my username). It was loads of fun when there were people around to play it. It's not the same by myself but I'm just glad to have it.

I think you can use the wifi to play with other people. I just started this game. I guess you do a tutorial first before getting to the story?

1 ) No Wi-Fi. Only Local Wireless.

2 ) The story is contained to the segment before the title screen. You have the option of just exiting the tutorial stage right from the beginning and playing the real stages.

Good to know!

That's a shame that it has to be local. >.<

Okay so once you collect 30,000 total Rupees, you unlock a special set of stages called the Hero Trials.

They are.

The Most.

Impossibly BULLCRAP stages in the entire Legend of Zelda series. Just... insane. For the first time in the series I am actually happy to see hearts come out of treasure chests.

I ended up getting a Game Over near the beginning of the third stage of the Gold Room, because it was such utter BS. One room has like... ten Moblins at once (an enemy that's already darn near impossible to beat without taking tons of hits) and there are these two fans that blow you against the wall, making it much more difficult to fight.

The prize for completing all three Hero's Trial rooms is the Hurricane Spin, which was difficult to obtain in the original Four Swords mainly because it required you to be the player to collect the most rupees during ten stages.

Single Player mode is much more difficult to win in general because of something I remember from my days playing Four Swords with my friends in High School. When every active player has full Hearts, the game goes into what is known as "Rupee Fever" where every rupee collected is worth double.

You get the Silver, Gold and Hero keys in each round of the normal stages by collecting 1000, 3000 or 5000 rupees respectively. I failed to get a gold key last night because I didn't make use of every opportunity to collect rupees. In the old days getting the Gold Keys was nothing, but now that I am forever alone...

0.o Holy crap that sounds terrible!! It's like how everything breathing in Link to the Past wants you dead ( I die to much in that game>.<).

From what I played in the tutorial I do not like the shield being used in the item buttons or equipping one item at a time. So I am not sure if I am going to play this or not. This game liked you said does need to be played with other people. It's a shame they didn't put wifi on this version so you can play with people who live far away from you.

So after learning what despair feels like several times, I ended up successfully beating the Hero's Trial BS.

NEVER in the Legend of Zelda series have I been so happy to see a single heart come out of a treasure chest. I wouldn't have won if not for the ability to strategically switch between the two Links to avoid damage.

Edit: I love when the most overlooked item ends up being completely essential to saving one's bacon when it's needed most. The item I never really invested any attention into ended up being what helped me win the Hero Trial thing. And that item was.... the shield!
