Disclaimer: These "character discussion" entries were created several months ago, therefore views/opinions by the OP had changed overtime. However, since each entry takes a heart and soul (and 30 minutes at best) to open each thread for individual character discussion, the original posts were here as the anchor of the character discussion. New ideas or thoughts by the OP were be separated from the main post. Also, the OP loves/respects all of the main cast despite the flaws, so please no flaming or "bashing" the character. Sayaka is not my favorite, but I like the design since it would make sense for her to have a "heroic" look with that white cape and an outfit that models after some sort of modern/21st century "knight in shining armor"! That girl has the word "justice and love" all over her head thanks to her wish that made her very, VERY HAPPY!....

Before Kyubey and Kyouko had to mess up Sayaka's life and the turn of events that end up ruin her current life and straight to regretting it... Like the lancer said: Use your wish only for yourself! (And even Mami said so after reading the Hanokage manga...)

Yet... Things get worse and get to learn about the "food chain" when it comes to Puella Magi and Witches. Sad days when you think about it... Anyway, another thing I really like about her "fall" is the fanart that was done for that particular moment, especially the references to "The Little Mermaid", that I even personally joked whenever I listen to "Mermaid Girl" by Cream Puff!

So uhh... Yea... If she was imported to a NORMAL magical girl show like PreCure franchise, I am sure she would be a fine magical girl. But till then.. I have not much to say and only have this .gif from my gallery...

P.S. [Dec. 6, 2013] While Sayaka is possibly 3rd-ish in my list, I can sympatize with her relationship issues with my problems in real life. At the moment she's my spiritual avatar.

I know Sayaka has the reputation of being the least popular among the 5, some people just downright hate her.

But I don't care, I love this poor girl and for awhile she was actually my favorite character.

I like that she's a little sly and mischievous but its all in good fun and she really means well. I like that she just wants to do the right thing but everything's just so stacked against her she just makes the wrong choices.

I also really like her roll in the Rebellion movie, as Godoka's righthand man XD  


I dunno, I was just looking at Sayaka's wiki page and all of my feelings for her wanted to gush out

In the beginning she was my favorite of the five. I really liked that scene where they're on the rooftop and Sayaka talks about how unfair it is for her to get the chance to have her wish granted, something she doesn't really need, when there are others who could benefit from it more.

Her constant stubbornness and hostility toward Homura and her unwillingness to listen to anyone is what really frustrates me about her. That and it doesn't seem like she was ever a good friend to Madoka. All she did was tease her, ignore her and lash out at her throughout the show.

Her appearance in episode 10 just seemed really tacked on, like "We need some conflicted. Let's bring in Sayaka!" And it's like... instead of accusing Homura of this and that, why not just ask Kyubey if what she's saying is true?

As promised, her behavior in Rebellion Story was much better, up until her final scene where she goes right back to the "You are evil!" stuff. Kind of odd considering she knew everything Homura was going through. And if she still had Madoka's memories she would know of Homura's struggle in the TV series.

Seyiku is cool. End of story.

Nah, i kid. She's an excellent character but a lot of people seem to hate her.

Common reasons why people hate Sayaka:

She uses her wish on a boy


Since when is wishing for someone you love to be healed a bad thing?

She was a bully/mean to precious Homu Homu


Only Homura Apologists seem to say this, but whatever, it still deserves a mention. Sayaka didn't trust her, and thought that she was collaborating with Kyoko to endlessly farm Grief Seeds. She also believed that Homura had left Mami to die, since she wasn't there to witness her being tied up. And let's not forget that Homura threatened to kill Sayaka. So considering all of this, Sayaka has a damn good reason to be wary of her.

Yes, she is stupid. She is also 14 years old. Teenagers aren't exactly known to be smart. Your point is?

She was a terrible friend to Madoka, making her suffer like that


Ok, so maybe she yelled at her that one time, but she was mentally broken and immediately regretted her words afterwards. All of her teasing is light, and it is meant to be taken as a joke. As for ignoring her, again, she's losing her sanity, no shit she's gonna cut off everyone.
