| Subject: Kisshu... a rapist? Tue Jun 25, 2013 4:52 am | |
| hi! i havent been really active lately so i thought i'd come up with a pretty famous topic that has been in the tmm fandom for years now haha now, i think we all have seen the famous discussion of ~kisshu's actions and whether they should be excused or not, mostly because all of his actions didnt involved ichigo's consent and the fact that he could be really, really creepy lol though i am gonna admit im a huge fan of dubcon pairings so tbh as much as i'd rather not, most of my opinions are influenced by that. i do realize kisshu's actions were bad and sometimes would cross the line but to actually call him a rapist? (as i seen somewhere else before, though he didnt actually do anything that bad other than stealing kisses now and then) i dont know about you guys but in the end kisshu was just a 13-15yo boy who was really in love and had really messed up problems but hey thats just me! i think we shouldnt confuse the fact of wanting to do something really harmful to someone just to humiliate/posses them with being desperate what do you guys think? im sure we all agree that what kisshu was capable of doing was... scary lol but would you call him a rapist? or just a really spoiled and aggressive boy? ahah can you guys tell he's my favorite character i'll share my opinions later~! PS. i do realize there wasnt any sexual intercourse between kisshu and ichigo to actually call it rape but i didnt know how else to name it! |

| I would never call Kisshu a rapist. His actions are him being a abusive toward Ichigo. If he was a rapist well he would have forced sexual actions on Ichigo. Kissing doesn't count.
To me I don't think Kisshu would be capable of raping Ichigo. I don't know why I just can't picture him doing that to Ichigo. He's just more confuse about the matters at hand. I love this human girl, but I have to save my people. Why doesn't girl return my feelings, but wait she's my enemy. There's a lot things that's going through his mind and I believe his aggressive behavior caused by his mental well being. Kisshu clearly is shown as meantly unwell in the anime. |

| I mostly have to agree with Yamichan.
Kisshu is aggressive, yes, and even sadistic at the beginning; but as the show goes on and the condition deteriorates on both sides, you can dissect his motives and responses. He does care about Ichigo, but between his duties and her own, and the fact that his people are dying, means that high-stress combined with the immediate risk and internal battle of mutiny are all adding up and weighing him down. If I recall correctly, though, he only kisses Ichigo once or twice throughout the entire anime. The intention for more is there, yes, but he mostly flirts with her.
But rape? I highly doubt that he would, even on a spur of a moment (as he has a fair few impulse actions). |

| I wouldn't call Kisshu a rapist, and I doubt he'd go that far. He is abusive towards Ichigo and -has- crossed the line, but I wouldn't go as far as to say he would be a rapist.
He does show care for Ichigo, even sacrificing his life for her; he just seems to show affection in the wrong way.
Also, you have to bear in mind that technically Ichigo is supposed to be the enemy, there is probably a lot of conflict in his mind over how he feels, thus he's attacking her but there are probably doubts in his mind over his actions and a part of him may not actually want to fight.
I can see why he went a little crazy, I can see why he would be frustrated and angry...even confused.
However, I doubt he'd go as a far as rape, no matter how angry he is. He's a little creepy but I doubt he'd make himself lose it that badly, it just doesn't feel right in his character or personality. |

| I think rapist is a bit of a strong word, but he's definitely some form of abusive.
He forcibly kisses her, wants to take her back to his world whether she wants it or not.
Eventually he starts going yandere and tries to kill her boyfriend, eventually deciding that if he can't have her, he'll kill HER.
I'm sure I'm leaving out big psychological details, like the story with his home world, but still, there is no excuse for this kind of behavior.
And I felt like his redemption was poorly done. It would have been a lot more meaningful if it wasn't just "Two seconds ago I was your enemy, now I'm dying to protect you. I am a good person now." A bit more progression toward redemption would have made it seem less cheesy. |

| Well you see Kish was going back and forth between should I fight Ichigo to save my people or should I follow my emotions? I wouldnt say he was being become a good guy at the end, but I think near the end he decided to go with his feelings and die for Ichigo. Could have been better yeah, but it fits TMM. Plus the aliens arent really evil anyway. They just want to save their people. |

| I wouldn't say "rapist" cuz that is a very strong word that should only be used to describe the horrible action of rape.
But kissing/holding without permission. Calling her cute and things like "I like when you make that face" when she is clearly not feeling complimented. Threatening to kill her if he can't have her. - is definitely a form of Sexual Harassment and moves into straight up harassment.
and like Link said, just because you have conflicting feelings and a sad past is not an excuse for treating people less than human (or alien in this case) |

| Kisshu is far from a rapist. Discounting the hentai fanworks, in the actual series, he didn't even come close to doing anything rapey. As Mew Ami said, he probably doesn't even have it in him to rape Ichigo.
I don't believe he was very abusive to be honest. Attempting to murder Masaya and wanting to take Ichigo with him against her will isn't the strongest case for abuse. Kisshu only hurts her because she's on the opposing side.
Kissing someone without their consent ain't rape. Dunno why the MG fandom keeps thinking it is though, but it does get incredibly tiring to deal with after awhile, especially when you get called a rape apologist for the 50 millionth time. |

| I don't really think he's a rapist. That is a very strong word. He's kinda creepy and stalker ish towards Ichigo, but it's not rape-y. (And this is coming from someone who prefers MasayaxIchigo.) |

| I...can kind of see the accusation? I'm currently watching the anime, and I just finished episode four. It really disturbed me how the writers treated the situation with Ichigo having her first kiss stolen. They treated it with the same kind of seriousness you would expect from sexual assault... It really creeped me out how she didn't even want Masaya to look at her "with kind eyes" because she felt so worthless after being kissed. I mean, I know that it wasn't actually rape, but. When the show treats the situation with that much seriousness, I can kind of see why people would accuse him of this. |

| To be honest I have to agree with some people that Quiche is more of a stalker than anything else and I have to admit that he can be creepy sometimes too. Sorry Quiche fans, but I'm just saying my honest opinion here. |
