So has anyone seen Cardcaptors? The English dub of CCS?
I saw it when it first aired on Kids WB. The promo commercials hooked me in and I loved every episode I watched. Then one faithful day Miakemi got CCS on DVDs and well after watching the show in Japanese I couldnt watch Cardcaptors anymore. The English dub literally kills the plot of the show. I understand that English dubs are only adaptations, but when trying to turn a girl show into a boy show it's unforgivable.
What most people dont know that the company who dub the show into English did in fact dub all the episodes. They aired all the episodes in Canada, but in America they jumped the episodes around and skipped a lot so the show would appeal to boys.
The only thing I can still watch from the English dub is the opening. It was a very catchy song. Made the show seem so epic. XD

I think maybe we should find a place to watch it online and watch it for the anime club!

She has the whole series on DVD! Thats the Japanese version though. However her copy of the first movie has the English dub on that! Maybe we can watch both versions! :3

that would be awesome! Just cause i don't like to read my anime doesnt mean that we can't watch some subs!lol
Ughhh the opening theme was the most painful thing in the world.
I remember really liking the show back when I was in middle school. The only thing was.... Kids WB had no idea how to run a schedule, so we kept getting episodes aired in random order.
Rewatching the series in its proper original form was a nice treat. Like a massive director's cut of the show. I got to revisit a show that I loved with TONS of new content.

The official second movie release (I have both the official and a bootleg) has a dub too. It's completely different from the Cardcaptors, but I could play both movies if we wanted.
As for Cardcaptors, this was one of the few anime my sister watched with me. I have fond memories of the dub. I don't like the dub anymore, but it lead me to subbed anime which led me to watching other anime, so I can't completely hate it.
Also, I must disagree about the opening. It was the cheesiest, most dramatic thing they could have come up with, but I still know every word and will probably recite it if ever prompted. XD I was very easily entertained as a child.

I think I was about 3 or 4 at the time Cardcators was on TV in Australia so I missed it. Needless to say there's no nostalgia so the opening only makes me cringe. Although if I didn't grow up on Pokemon and Dragonball Z/GT I think I would feel the same way about their notoriously cheesy opening themes. Although even if I wanted to watch it dubbed in all it's heavily censored glory, my DVDs (Which, coincidentally, I just bought today) are sub only.
Something I find odd is that the old Cardcaptors DVDs got rated PG back in the day while the uncut subtitled sets got a G rating. It's a real shame they didn't dub it today or else it could have gotten on TV completely uncensored. Especially here in Australia where all they had to do was bleep out 'shit' to get Madoka Magica on a kid's channel in a decent timeslot.

I remember being a fan of Cardcaptors when it was airing, not hardcore or anything, but enough to keep watching.
I didn't realize just how different it was until I bought the manga when I was 11 or 12. It almost kindof shocked me at how much we were missing and how much of the "shoujo" aspect was cut out. Heck, I didn't even know for sure Sakura was in love with Yukito/Julian until I read the manga where it's spelled out for you every chapter.
I bought one of my first Subtitled DVDs soon after that (vol. 2 to be exact. it was all the store had at a discount)

I was listening to the Italian theme of CCS (or "Pesca la tua Carta Sakura" as it was known there)
and since people were talking about the theme song for Cardcaptors. I think this one's actually a nice blend of the two. It takes the seriousness of the Cardcap. theme, and the femininity and dreamyness of the CCS themes

I remember I got into Cardcaptor Sakura by watching the Cardcaptors Nelvana English Dub back when I was little, but as I got older I started to watch the Original Japanese version and loving it. The only bad thing about the Nelvana dub is the censorship along with the changes and I noticed that there are two Nelvana English dubs. One for the U.S and Canada and another one for the U.K, Australia, and New Zealand which made me confused, but good thing I ended up knowing why there's two versions of that dub though.
