Konnichi-wa, minna-san. I am a longtime member of the Moon Kingdom Forums (one year) who (very) recently came over to Magical Girl Cafe because of the merger. I tend to be a verbose person in my writings, but I'll try to keep my Intro here under 1,000 pages
.
I became interested in Sailor Moon when I was in my upper 20s, because Sailor Moon didn't exist (even in Japan) when I was a teenager
. It was in the late 90s, and I was watching Cartoon Network for my favorite American cartoon, Scooby Doo, when I noticed commercials for a marathon one Sunday of a show I'd never heard of before - Sailor Moon. It looked interesting from the commercials, so I made sure to tune in that Sunday. I missed the first and last episodes of the marathon (grocery shopping and my dad called me, respectively), but I was hooked only from watching the 15 episodes in between. Soon after that, I was looking up info about Sailor Moon on the World Wide Web when I found a great website meant for fans who had only seen the English dub of SM (called Castle In The Sky - Sailor Moon). That's when I found out it was an example of Japanese anime and all that other good stuff.
Then I started investigating other similar anime titles on the internet. Magic Knight Rayearth was the next anime title I got into, from finding copies of the manga at a library near my home at that time. And things kind of snowballed from there. I have since figured out that my two favorite genres of anime are magical girl and teenage romance. Though I do like certain other anime titles, such as Neon Genesis Evangelion (because I saw several similarities between Shinji Ikari and me; although I
still haven't finished that one
).
It should be obvious who my favorite senshi is
. I chose her because the list of similarities between her and I is very long. My second-favorite is Sailor Saturn, because I could identify with the depressed way Hotaru seemed to be in S season of the 90s anime. If I chose a third-favorite, it would probably have to be Sailor Pluto, because I can identify somewhat with her being alone most of the time at the Time Gate, and it seems like Pluto is the most mysterious, hardest to figure out senshi.
In real life, I am a shy computer geek whose other main hobby is studying mass transit (busses, trains, and ferries) and advocating for its improvement. But I can come alive here on the internet, where I find interacting with other people to be easier than real life (especially because it seems to be difficult to find someone in real life who shares one of my interests). When time allows, I also delve into my secondary hobby of being a novice coin collector.
That seems to be a long enough introduction for now. I am open to any questions about what I have written here.
