We need more of them. /Thread

But seriously, one of the most polarizing things about the latest Precure season (Happiness Charge) is that some of the International Cures are from places such as India and Egypt, yet they appear barely all that different from the Japanese team.

Why Toei? You had no problem making international Digimon kids darker skinned. We had a character from India and Mexico. So why not Precure? Were they afraid that the characters wouldn't be "pretty" enough?

To that I have only two words.

Taranee Cook.

I watched W.I.T.C.H. so long ago, but I can't really remember anything about her. All I remember is that I didn't really like the spider hair thing when she transforms.

Other than that, she is super cute.

Next we have Glenda, Princess of the demon world in Puchi Puri/Petite Princess Yucie. Unlike the main character who has little magic other than a pendant that lets her change outfits, Glenda is a very skilled magic user and acts as a rival to the main character.

Personality wise it takes quite a while for her to develop into something likeable. She's stuck-up and bratty and very obnoxious. She's known for always referring to herself as "Elegant and Fantastic".

Not a huge fan of her typical outfit... for obvious reasons. The fact that she's stuck as a ten year old makes it worse. Oh Gainax...

I'm sure there's one or two more in Winx Club, but other than that I can't recall any other dark skinned magical girls having an important role in the show. (That tiny scene in ep. 12 of PMMM doesn't count. Plus that girl was lighter than either of these two.)

Well there's Anthy Himemiya

Arguably the magical girl of Revolutionary Girl Utena. Utena may be on the cover, but Anthy's magic is pulling the strings.

Also, there's Sailor Pluto/Meioh Setsuna

(Whose skin color is pretty inconsistent, lets be honest. But its pretty obvious she's meant to be darker than the rest of the girls)

Mii from Jungle de Ikou

The post-magic form of Japanese school girl Natsumi, whose been infused with a generic cartoony Tropical Fertility Goddess. I may not like this show, but brownie points for using South American-esque magic I guess.

Remuria Sharia & Priscillaria Shamaran from The Cosmopolitan Prayers

(hey, there's even two in this show!) I know nothing about these girls because I couldn't even make it through one episode of this show XD But I think they're cute

Pop from Sweet Valerian

Urie from Angel's Friends

And finally,

Alexandra & Camryn from Twitches, an ABC Family movie featuring Tia & Tamara

Possibly the only magical girl anything to date featuring African-American women as the top billing characters

just saying.

thats all i could think of

The latest dark-skinned magical girl, Talia from Lolirock

I love her design alot~ I haven't seen much of this show but so far she's my favorite

Another new one is Lavender, from a Nick Jr. show about witches "Little Charmers"

Oh! and the Aloha Precure girls, Cure Sunset & Cure Wave from HaCha Precure

I think everyone is forgetting about this girl

Layla/Aisha (Winx Club)

Just saying, Japan is in no way required to show any different ethnicity's other than their own. They make anime for the Japanese with Japanese characters, and they aren't exactly the most diverse country in the world (in fact, according to Wikipedia, they're ranked 157, only just above North and South Korea).
