So, has anyone here heard of Neko Atsume? It's been quite big in the kawaii community on Tumblr, especially since an English translation came out in October.

Basically, what you do is you leave cat toys and food out in your backyard, and then cats come to visit you. That's literally it. It's a mobile game from Japan, so it's not something you can actually sit and play. You just open up the game every hour or so, check on your cats, and then leave. 

Honestly, you would think that, with such a basic premise, the game would be really bad, but... It's surprisingly charming. Sure, you don't really do much, but the art style is absolutely adorable, and every time I open it up and see the kitties playing with the stuff I left, it always makes me smile.

As a mobile game, microtransactions are available, but unlike other mobile games, it's not really shoved in your face. It's an available option, sure, but you can earn gold fish on your own if you're patient enough. And there are plenty of items in the game that can be bought with the gray fish, so it's not like it's completely unplayable without gold fish.

I downloaded this game yesterday, and so far, I really like it. It's just a really cute little game.

It is. I like it when they left  fishes . It is as you say, surprisingly charming.

I know, right? I didn't expect this game to be so awesome with such a silly premise, but it's so fun! After a month and a half of playing, I have seen all of the cats at least once, bought the expansion, and two remodels. I didn't spend any real money at all! I just was patient and saved up gold fish on my own. I found a really awesome setup on Tumblr that allows you to get lots and lots of fish, so I am rolling in them right now! I have over 10,000 silver!

Two of the cats left mementos for me and it has been  only nine days of playing.

It's so simple yet adorable. so far I have had fifteen over cats visit.

I recently 100% completed this! I've met all the cats, got everyone's memento, and bought every item in the shop, including all of the remodels and wallpapers! Now I'm just eagerly awaiting the next update...

This sounds absolutely adorable. Maybe I'll check it out. Sounds kinda Tomodachi Life-esque, but with cats, sorta.

Yeah! I never really thought about it like that, but it is sort of like Tomodachi Life in the sense that you're an observer. The only difference is that in Tomodachi Life, you have a more active role in the lives of your islanders... The only thing you really do in Neko Atsume is refill the food bowls and occasionally lay out new goodies. 

Yeah I wish you could pet the cats or something...

I got it! I love the way it looks. I already got Pumpkin.

Ahh, Pumpkin is cute! My favorite common cat is Lexy. She's my best girl, she is. As for rare cats, my favorite is definitely Lady Meow-Meow.

So what exactly do the power levels mean? I've gotten cats that have them as low as 35 and as high as 140.

What I think it means:

Cat A 35 power level while Cat B has 140. Cat B can kick Cat A off x item.

I saw people on the subreddit for neko brought this up. It was a guess though, but it makes sense! Cats do that other cats after all. Dogs do it too.

Ah, okay! That or the people who made it are just being weird who knows.
