So in the manga there was a short called Tokyo Black Cat Girl. It was story about her girl becoming a superhero to fight alien monsters. This story was the original idea Ikumi had before she made Tokyo Mew Mew. If her publishers told her that they didn't want a 5 superhero team than probably would have gotten this story. So what do you think? Would you have read it?



I personally would have read it. I found it interesting and I like the idea of a having a magical girl series with just a solo fighter. You really don't see that often anymore. Now, I don't know about the girl's boyfriend. Seeing how it was a one shot he was just thrown at us. Maybe their relationship could work in a longer series if the oneshot was not written as the first chapter.

Personally, I really like delving into the solo-fighter trope. I would've liked to have seen this as at very least a mini-series, as it had quite a bit of potential. The boyfriend was a little questionable, but that is also due to the fact this wasn't even oneshot length. I certainly would've liked to see more on the actual enemies, not the monster of the week.

The monster she was fighting actually look pretty threatening compared to the monsters in TMM.

Off the top of my head, if I recall correctly, Hime-chan was fighting a mecha fish?

The monsters she fights are called Bagus. I don't know if they're mecha fish.

I absolutely loved this short and both Azumi-chan and Noda-kun. Especially Noda-kun.
Tokyo Black Cat Girl as a longer series would've been wonderful and a must read on my list for sure.
Up to this day I always wished there was more on it.

It's shame that there isn't more magical girl series that only has one person fighting. Maybe it's because publishers will think it's boring? I find it exciting and in this series Azumi seems like an interesting character.

Likewise, Ami-chan. I'd be very interested to read a fanfiction that expands on this specific idea, if someone knows where to find one or - if we're lucky - more.

I have never looked into Black Cat Girl fanfiction I wonder if it even exists.

It's possible, though it'd be a miniscule little niche.
