PostSubject: ThanksGaming Month   Fri Nov 01, 2013 5:48 am

If you've clicked on this topic then chances are you're wondering to yourself, "What is ThanksGaming Month?" I'm glad you asked.

ThanksGaming Month is one time a year where we can all come together as a single gaming community and remember the games that shaped our childhoods. It doesn't matter if you were raised in the 70's, the 80's the 90's or the 00's. Whether you're a PC gamer, console gamer or you just used to go to the arcade with friends. If you have at least one video game you enjoyed, cherish it. Remember it. Play it again if you can. Not just games of your past, but games you enjoy in the present and, assuming you have any, games you believe you'll be enjoying in the future. I'll get the ball rolling.

I started playing games when I was three or four on my brother's old Nintendo. The first game I ever played was Super Mario Brothers, followed closely by Duck Hunt. It was the double cartridge that came out in 88 and it was the first and only time I got to use the Nintendo Zapper. After that I played Karate Champ, Nightmare on Elm Street, The Uncanny X-Men and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II with my brother. I also got to play the old Jaws game by myself. Used to think the scuba diver was a gold fish, good times. Other honorable mentions are Super Mario Bros 2, Paperboy, Golf and Baseball.

After the Nintendo my brother would get a Sega Genesis and we would play Battletoads/Double Dragon, Street Fighter II: Champion Edition, X-Men 2: Clone Wars, Cyber Justice (anyone who remembers this game gets a hug from me), Mortal Kombat II and Doom. A lot of fun mulitplayer games that were challenging. In addition to those games that he owned I also got to play Sonic 2, Streets of Rage 2, Comix Zone, NBA JAM, Wolverine: Adamantium Rage, Spider-Man/Venom Maximum Carnage, Mortal Kombat 3, Barney Hide and Seek, McDonald's Treasure Land Adventure, Sylvester and Tweety in Cagey Capers and Road Rash II. I remember one friend of my brother playing that game and he crashed his bike and had to run the rest of the way to the finish line. It was awesome.

There were some games I played on my old computer too. Gorillas, Snakes, Treasure Mountain, Midnight Rescue and Reader Rabbit 1, 2, and 3.

Old Arcade games I played involved at least one Mega Man, though I can't remember which one. Area 51, the old rail shooter. Gauntlet Legends which I played with my cousins. The old X-Men arcade game that was up to six players that never got ported to a console. "WELCOME TO DIE!" I know there was more but I can't remember any of them. I know I played at least one driver game where you sit behind a wheel and get to put your foot on an actual gas pedal. I don't want to make this post too long so I'll be saving the rest of the games I played as a kid for later. Your turn.

wow were to start. I started on a PC as a child way back at the end of the 80's, and transitioned to the NES some time after that. Mairo was the one game my grandma could kick butt at and she held all the high scores it was great fun trying to beat her and i did once. I remember and to this day love Donkey Kong country on the SNES. that was where i think it really started for me, we (my brothers and I) would play for hours. It was great. The n64's Star fox was one of the first games i had played in a while and i loved it. I was really good, I have to say that it was one of those games that was just great to try over and over again for me anyway.

After the N64, i started my affair with Sony that has lasted to this day. I have a PS2 and PS3, and i love them both. I have 100's of games and they are all favorites in one way or another. but currently I am a Pirate in Black Flag.

My dad was pretty awesome at Super Mario Bros and Dr. Mario. He was the one who showed me the secret blocks in the first and fourth level of world one.

I neglected some titles from my last post. On the NES side of things I also played Ninja Gaiden, can't remember which one exactly, all I remember is running around in the sewers as a purple ninja, and the first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I also played a game where you control a pink thing that shoots things and crawl walls and ceilings. Can't remember the name of it.

Other Genesis games I also played were The Lion King, Pocahontas, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie, Fatal Fury 2 and some side-scroll space shooter that I'm only vaguely certain was on the Genesis.

After the Genesis we got a Sega Saturn, although I can't remember any games we played for the Saturn. I want to say Battle Arena Toshinden and Virtua Cop, but I'm not 100% on that. Then we got the PlayStation and the first games brought home for them were Tekken 2, Resident Evil and Tomb Raider. They were awesome. I used to be scared just going into a room in Resident Evil and as much as it pains me to admit, I never got past the third level on Tomb Raider. Level three is as far as I've ever gotten on the original Tomb Raider. The puzzles were just... asdf!

My first gaming console was this guy!

Lol when my brother and were little when we had a Sega Genesis, but I dont remember getting it. So it's strange to me when most people talk about their first console was the NES. What's funny that the Genesis came out the year before I was born! XD I'm such a youngster in the gaming world. Anyway we didnt have many games for it. We had Mortal Combat 2, Ren and Stimpy, Aladdin, Sonic 2, some Dick Tracey game, and I had a Barney game. I'm pretty sure that was it. My memory is a bit foggy with this thing and it didnt help that brother sold it when he was in high school. Regardless of my foggy memory I had a ton of fun playing it with my brother. I remember my dad would get at mad that my mom let me and my brother played Mortal Combat 2 because of the blood and crude deaths. My mom knew me and my brother were mature enough to play it.

So yes Sega was my first console, but I had played the SNES before just at other people's houses. My grandmother actually own one, but only had two games some fighting game and a WEBN game. I loved that WEBN game! My brother, and my cousins, and I had a blast playing that game. We loved getting out the ring and hitting each other with the chair. That's about it! I didnt really play the SNES much until later in my life. It was around time my dad got his own house and my "step sister" left her SNES there when she moved out. I played that thing when I came to visit, but I really cant remember how old I was. There were bunch games there and I pretty much played them all. Thats how I was introduce to Mario. I played the All Stars pack and Super Mario World. I freaking loved Super Mario World and to this day it's my favorite. Sadly I never beaten it as a kid. I would just replay the levels that were beaten and when I would try to beat things on my own I didnt get far. Then around the 3rd grade I would play the SNES at Maikemi's house. We would Donkey Kong Country 2 sadly we could never get passed the second world, but we loved playing it together.

At the point I had N64 at home. It was brother's because prior to owning it my mom gave him a choice that he either have a N64 or a playstation. So glad he went with the N64! We played that thing many times during our childhood! We had so many games and I was so happy to I was able to own my own games. My brother and I would played Super Smash bros together and 007. We also played Beetle Adventure Racing together:

God I loved that racing game! When we didnt play the N64 together I would watch my brother play his games. Like his Star Wars racing game or Zelda: Ocarina of Time! I wanted to play that game so badly and when my brother wouldnt let me have a file I went to my mom and she told my brother to let me have own file. Of course he listen! Thus I played my first Zelda game and Ive been hooked ever since!

During that time I also got my Gameboy Color from my dad for Christmas. At the time I have gotten into Pokemon and I wanted to play Pokemon Yellow. Of course I ended up with Pokemon Pinball because I told my dad I wanted the game with Pikachu on it. Yeah I didnt know that Pokemon Pinball had Pikachu on it as well. XD So that following April my mom went and got me Pokemon yellow for my birthday and ever since Ive been hook to Pokemon.

I owe a lot of my gaming to my brother. If it wasnt for him I dont think I would ever be a gamer. A lot of my fond memories from my childhood came from him and I playing the Genesis and the N64 together. Sadly he sold the N64 too during his high school years. I really wish he didnt sell both of those systems. I wonder if he regrets it now.

One thing that was odd I have never played Mario 64. XD My brother never got that game or some the other popular ones. We did rent a lot of N64 games from Hollywood Video. Like Mario Cart 64 and Mario Party 3. Also played some at Miakemi's house like Paper Mario!
