| I think the title of this thread speaks for itself, so I'll just list the ones I know off the top of my head.
Late for school. Bonus points if they have a slice of toast hanging from their mouth.
Dreaming of things to come. Or in the case of Cardcaptor Sakura, many many times.
Second episode starting with the main character dreaming of the events of the previous episode, then waking up and wondering if it was a dream before finding obvious proof that it wasn't. Otogi-Jushi Akazukin did this before Madoka Magica.
The Mysterious transfer student. Bonus points if that character appeared in the above dream.
Pigtails. Hairstyle of champions. They symbolize childishness and innocence, so it's understandable that an ungodly amount of Magical Girls have them.
Stuffed animals. Girls love them and Magical Girls are no exception. Bonus points if their rooms are littered with them.
Same goes for sweets.
Just wants to be normal. In the old days a Magical Girl just wanted to hang out with her friends and have fun, and didn't care for the burden of fighting monsters and saving the world. I blame a certain White Devil for the recent surge of "I just wanna be special" Magical Girl protagonists.
Character inserts themselves into a normal, human family. Minky Momo did it way before Chibiusa. The fact that they look similar makes me wonder if that's not a coincidence.
BRAINWASH SOMEONE OTHER THAN THE LOVE INTEREST! |

| The main girl is clumsy, naive, boy crazy, lazy at school, and headstrong. |

The clumsy, crybaby one The smart and shy one The silent and stoic one The mysterious one(s) The strong and steady type
Im sure there are many more but those are the ones off the top of my head xD |

| Female classmates are in love with one of the girls for their amazing talent in sports or something else. Heck that's really a cliche in anime in general, but magical girl series use it a lot. |

| One that kind of makes me hesitant everytime it shows up. Probably a newer trope thanks to Ojamajo Doremi.
Magical Babies. You know the "Here little 13 year olds. Hold on to this super important baby-character for me. I know it gets on your nerves, ruins your stuff and gets you distracted in fights but trust me. It'll come in handy and makes for good filler!.....hopefully. Don't forget to buy the toy!!" trope |

| Let's see we have "Determinator trope." Meaning that by sheer will, they can stand anything. Usagi went through a field of gravity vs. Rubeus and didn't break anything, also she crossed a thorny path with NO powers. "adorkable." Too, no matter how clumsy, most will love her clumsiness. That's it for now. |

| "Lone Wolf" characters who say they wont join the group and make a big dramatic deal about it - but then end up joining one episode later |

| The love interest getting brainwashed is annoying. Heck, why doesn there have to be a love interest is he's just gonna be a distressed dude! I love Mamoru and others like him but if you're gonna put one in the show, make them more useful to the main character(s). The 90s anime was not kind to you Mamo... I have to respect that in shows like Star v. The Forces of Evil, Marco helps Star out tons and is his own character (but Your Mileage Mat Vary on the nature of their relationship). I hear Miraculus Ladybug has the love interest as a magical boy, which is kinda cool. |
