| I'm half-joking here, but there are some things that people, anime fans or not that just sort of rub me the wrong way lol
1 - Why don't the bad guys just attack while they're transforming!? 2 - Why doesn't any one recognize that it's ___?? 3 - This is such a rip off of ___! 4 - Is this porn? (If you're a Creamy Mami fan, you hear this at least once) 5 - Why is her hair pink?
I dunno, it's not that big a deal I guess, but I get tired of explaining the same things to people
add more if you'd like! |

| And since it's me, you know what I'm gonna add to this.
Stuff like "Madoka was the first MG show with dark themes/characters dying/deconstruction" and whatnot. |

>.> Yeah what did you expect? Or more specifically, when someone tries to recommend a MG show, particularly a darker one like Princess Tutu, and has to say something like "I know it's really girly, but it's actually good." Nope. It being girly doesn't automatically make it bad. I mean I can't blame most Western viewers because our TV networks have zero care for anything not made for boys, so girls typically get crap like the billion Barbie movies that don't put much quality into anything. Mc.Donald's Recently sold a line of Spiderman toys, two sets, one for boys and one for girls. The ones for boys were things like action figures, a Spiderman mask and other cool stuff like that. The toys for girls? Not only were they stereotypical girl things like a diary, a headband and bracelets, but they were also slathered in a really unappealing shade of pink. Why does Spiderman have to be pink to appeal to girls? He doesn't. The fact that they would even make Spiderman toys for girls tells me girls like Spiderman, so why do this? America has no cares when it comes to anything that's not for boys, as the audience for shows like Young Justice found out. http://io9.com/paul-dini-superhero-cartoon-execs-dont-want-largely-f-1483758317 |

| Wow that article insults me. I won't even finish reading it...
KIDS DON'T BUY TOYS! They have like no money. Their parents buy it. So for all they know girls are playing with the toys. >.> |

| I used to work at a Disney Store. They have the store purposefully set up to have girl stuff on one end boys on another with some of the Unisex stuff in the middle (And Adult/Collector stuff in the back) thats fine I guess for organization sake - but all the time I would hear "lets go over to the girls toys" to the daughters and "dont play with that, here, lets go look at the boys toys" to the sons
I mostly sat at the register, where there were a bunch of knick-knacks kids would play with. A boy no older than 3 picked up a ball with a princess on it and started play with it but his dad stopped him and said "dont you wanna play with this one instead?" trying to attract him to a ball with Buzz Lightyear on it. Same damn toy, just a different character.
Some parents even looked guilty if their daughter wanted to dress up as Jesse from Toy Story than a princess. "finally get a granddaughter and she wants to be a cowgirl more than a princess" one lady told me. It made me so angry.
So yeah, parents care a heck of a lot more about gender roles than kids do. |

| I don't get it to be honest. :/
I played with my brother's toys when I was kid. |

| (Not even gonna get started on sexist toy marketing. Argh)
"You can't complain about senseless nudity in ------ because it happens in those magical girl shows you like" because Sailor Moon transformations is totally the same thing as useless fanservice. |

That. Sparkly silhouettes are SO the same thing as Nanoha's transformation stripping her down specifically to her underwear, closing up on said underwear, then tearing that off as well. I think the movies had nipples too. Can't recall, I only saw the A's movie and it barely held my attention. |

| Anyone who puts down Magical Girl stuff that came out before Madoka and being all "Oh it was all too light and fluffy and tasted like diabetes, so it's bad, an we should all worship Madoka as the shining example of what a magical girl should be". This really hasn't happened to me too much, but it has to others. Like, just cause something isn't dark and creepy like Madoka doesn't mean it's bad. And I don't have anything against the idea of a darker magical girl series, I love Sailor Moon and that gets dark sometimes, and I plan on watching Revolutionary Girl Utena and that's dark. Heck, I'm even gonna watch Madoak someday! I could go on and on about this but I won't here so I'll leave it at that. |

| "It's just like Sailor Moon!"
I had someone on another site say this to me. I drew a picture of Ladybug, and they commented that they were a fan of magical girl shows and that they liked Miraculous Ladybug and that it reminds them of Sailor Moon. And I just thought to myself... If Sailor Moon is really the first comparison you thought of, you're probably not that big of a magical girl fan... |

| Sadly, I used to be that person, way before I really got into anime as a whole. It's just... Urrgghh. Not every 5-girl band Majokko team is a Sailor Moon ripoff! Tokyo Mew Mew has 5 main characters, and it's nothing like Sailor Moon! Jeez, some people. |

| Exactly! Honestly, I think it's a rule of thumb that, if your immediate thought when watching any magical girl show is Sailor Moon... You probably don't know that many magical girl shows, LOL. I see this a lot on Amazon. There are so many reviews for magical girl manga where someone compares it to Sailor Moon. It's ridiculous. |
