Here is everyone! The new Zelda game has finally seen the light of day!

This game looks freakn amazing. An open world Zelda game is a dream come to true in my opinion. The idea of a ruin Hryule is aswesome. I just can't even breath anymore. 2017 please come now!

Kinda curious we have yet to see the iconic green tunic. Not crazy about the blue outfit with the ponytail. : P

Seems cell shading is the big thing now, this looks a ton better than Skyward Sword, so no complaints.

The part where he's cooking stuff is interesting because you never really think about Link needing to eat. Usually food item are for healing. Since this is an open-world Zelda, I imagine they might have him need to forage for food and such.

Either way, it's about time I get a Wii U. I thought maybe I should wait for the NX, but I think I'm better off with the system that has had all the kinks worked out by now, than the experimental new one.

In the video description:

Quote :
Step into a world of discovery, exploration and adventure in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, a boundary-breaking new game in the acclaimed series. Travel across fields, through forests and to mountain peaks as you discover what has become of the ruined kingdom of Hyrule in this stunning open-air adventure.

So it seems this Link will not dawn on the green tunic. Or maybe he'll magically gets it like TP Link.

I love the blue and the pony tail.

I have been watching them play the game live and you get change your clothes so it makes me wonder if you can require armor like in the trailer. You can have Link run around half naked. That's what I'm doing! Shirtless Link oh yeah!  Cool

The food does restore health! They showed it the gameplay. There are lot of cool things you can do as Link. Climb, swim, set things on fire, steal weapons from enemies (which you could in WW so I'm happy to see it back!), and other things.

I haven't been keeping up with the news about this, but a friend tells me that this is going to have the dungeons be playable in any order.

Hopefully there'll be more to said dungeons than just "spam the one item you needed to get in, and use the game's gimmick" like the wall merging in A Link Between Worlds. That and the difficulty not escalating made the dungeons very boring in that one. But exploring the overworld was fun, so... who knows, maybe both will be fun this time around.

I had some trouble with some of the dungeons in Between Worlds. I do like the idea of any order. Makes the game more replayable.

Well, the game has arrived and I had the pleasure of correcting the incompetent management about the existence of the Wii U version. They had all the Switch stuff out (which sold out quickly) but didn't realize the Wii U version released on the same day. Got my copy right around midnight and ended up staying up till 3am giving it a whirl.

Not gonna talk much about the game itself, but more the Wii U version specifically. It's actually not as bad as people make it out to be. Arin had said that its existence was a huge mistake, but not all of us can spend $1000 on a broken Atari cartridge that's been sitting in dirt for twenty years. He got the Switch and the game for free so. >: P

Either way, I don't feel like I had to SETTLE for the Wii U version. The framerate issues are pretty trivial and don't take away from exploring the wild. (crowded villages on the other hand...)

The game has some loading times, particularly when you're warping you can expect to wait as long as 10 or so seconds. Nothing too severe.

The main gripe with this game is that they basically just said "Screw it" with the Wii U's main feature. You can still play the game on the Gamepad, but none of the functions like selecting items or viewing the map will work on it. Apparently they thought it would be too distracting managing two screens, I dunno.

Graphics wise I don't feel like I'm loosing anything playing the supposed lesser version. The game has a unique style to it where I'm not like "Omg I need to play it in super 4k high def to see how realistic it is". I was wowed by the HD of the Wii U when I first got it, but after a while it just wears off. Smash Bros 4 for example doesn't look like anything special unless I go back to playing Brawl for a while.

They really put a lot of emphasis on going in blindly and discovering things on your own. The instruction booklet doesn't even explain the UI or controls or anything. I guess they anticipated people wouldn't read that either way. XD

All in all I'm already enjoying this game much more than Skyward Sword, so that's something.

I am officially a happy camper. It was finally worth it to tear open my 30th Anniversary Wind Waker Amiibo set.

It looks kiiiinda silly on an adult Link, but it's still pretty nice to have an actual tunic and cap. You can get them in the styles of several Links depending on which Amiibo you use. Apparently Skyward Sword Link's costume is in there too, but I don't know which Amiibo gives it.

And not just the costume, but also a special weapon based on that Link.

I wish I cared for Boomerangs, otherwise I'd use it. So instead, it's the one decoration in my house.

A couple things I forgot to mention.

The outfit parts come randomly in a chest that appears when you use the Amiibo. You CAN save and reset until you get one, and you CAN alter the system's clock to bypass the "once a day" limit. I ended up spending about an hour resetting until I got all three costume parts.

Sweet you can get a house. I looked up how. I totally missed the guys working on a house in Hinato (however you spell it) Village. I'll add that on a list of things to do.

I'm currently in a snowy mountain region.

Impa I'll come and talk to you again someday. <3

Well that's done. Just beat BOTW. Didn't get the completely 100% ending due to not having bothered with Link's memories and even still it felt kind of anticlimactic. No doubt because of the open nature of the game. They can't really take into account every detail of what you've done, so there's no closure for ANY of the NPCs you've met along the way.

It was ambitious for sure, but not something I'd want them to retry. I much prefer the more elaborate dungeons, quest items that open up new areas to explore in the over-world, and story and characters that stick with you just as much as the gameplay. Also even Skyward Sword gave you an unbreakable shield as a reward. > >

Still playing the game. I have done one Divine Beast and I'm 55 hours in. Let's not talk about the story kay? I'm hunting the memories down because I enjoy them. I really love characters in this game.

I don't want them to go back to the old 3D style games. I prefer this open style gameplay way better. Yes the shrines and dugenons are short, but it takes me a while to slove some of them. Hell I probably spent an hour in the first Divine Beast because I got stuck.

Yes there are some great dugenons in the past game, but most dugenons are dragged out. TP dungeons anyone? The series has gotten stale. Each dungeon is find the map then find the compass then find the x item to defeat the boss. And x item may or may not be useful outside of said dugenon.

It was time for a change. The series is 30 years old. Maybe they can make both style of games. But I don't know if I can go back to 3D linear Zelda.

One thing I have to say I really like about this game is the horses.

Being able to catch and name your own horses makes them more personal... and makes you feel like scum when your horse gets blown up by a Guardian. > >

There's a lot of little touches that I really like, such as being able to feed them or customize them at certain stables. The fact that they follow paths completely independently, and this time you don't have to be holding forward for them to maintain full running speed.

Horses having different stats and designs is neat, but for some reason Zelda games always favor uniformity. In this case horses with solid colors seem to have the better stats, as opposed to ones with patterns.

They end up being kind of pointless since once you get the shrines unlocked you can warp just about anywhere on the map, and you don't have an instant way to call your horse like in past games, but it's actually kinda fun to ride around with a horse. There's also something really satisfying about running circles around a Guardian, hacking off its legs and while it just tips over so uselessly.

I found one horse with 4 strength, 4 speed and 5 stamina and it's been my constant companion ever since. I wish you could rename your horses though, cause I didn't think I'd get so attached to it and now the poor thing's stuck with "Chocodile" as its name.

Epona, who you get by using the Smash Bros Link amiibo has 4 in every stat, so this one I have is actually better. It doesn't seem like there are any horses with 5 in every stat. I've seen ones with 5 speed but they usually have weaker strength and stamina.

A few days ago I finally beaten Ganon. I have put 155 hours into this game. I beat all the shrines and collected all of the memories (you get a bonus cut scene after the credits. It's nice way to end Zelda's story and somewhat hints the DLC coming this December.). All I have left is the side quests and the seeds. F**K the seeds! I may do all of the side quests at some point. As right now I started a new file because I need something to keep me busy until MK8D comes out.

So now that I have a working Wii U again (which I am utterly paranoid of it overheating) the time to play catch-up is upon me.

With a much better understanding of this game's mechanics and enemy AI, I put pretty much everything into stamina at first. More stamina means more places you can go, and more shrines to find. Also made sure to seek out the entire climbing set right away. Then once I completed 40 shrines I used that helpful little statue to swap them for heart containers to get the Master Sword.

I think I've only gotten about 20 Korok seeds, but that shouldn't be much of a problem thanks toooooooo

This amazing map which you can customize to show whatever you're looking for. That combined with the stamp feature in the game makes hunting down shrines a breeze. I'm actually having a good time laying a TON of stamps on the map and seeking them out one by one. Soon the Korok seed hunt will begin...

So the first DLC pack has been announced and the features being boasted don't impress me, but the benefit to doing the obligatory combat gauntlet sounds nice. Maybe then I could actually use the Master Sword to beat one Lynel.
