Awhile back some people tried to convince me the Macross Frontier was a magical girl anime. That was not the Macross franchise's foray into the world of Mahou Shoujo; Macross Delta, on the other hand, is.

Mysterious disease that turns people into violent psycopaths, check
Color coded group of girls that sing the disease away, check
Transformations, choreographed intros (some that include the veritecks), check
Mysterious organisation spreading said mysterious disease, check

Oh yeah, the disease is activated by singing

first, the singing anime and now... well... this XD

The really weird part is that they play it straight. It isn't a spoof, parody or anything like that. There's a war being fought by idols across multiple worlds (as interstellar travel is commonplace) and they are equipped with press-on nails that are communicators. The juxtaposition is jarring, to say the least.
