Yepyep. I mentioned in the latest post of the general talk topic that I watched the movie about a week before Christmas. I liked it, but I found the musical numbers to be rather cheesy, especially the ones for Olaf and the trolls. I dunno maybe I've outgrown the days of Aladdin and The Lion King.

I liked it alot! I really liked all the characters and stuff. I even have the soundtrack and a couple of dolls XDD (a thing with me- If I don't have the soundtrack, I probably don't like it, haha)

Well Disney songs are cheesy to begin with, but they stick with you. Tangled songs never really stuck with me. They were too pop music like. The only song that stayed with me was I See the Light.

I saw Frozen not too long ago with my boyfriend (I'm going to see it tomorrow with my best friend) and I really enjoyed it! It's my second favourite Disney film now, behind Tangled, and I can't wait to see it again! Also, after a few listens, I really like the songs now. 'Let it Go is my favourite Disney song. I also like 'Frozen Heart', 'Love is an Open Door' and 'Fixer Upper'. Also, the soundtrack is beautiful! :D xx

Finally saw it! I love it so much! <3 Much better than Tangled in my opinion. I love both the sisters, but Anna is my favorite. <3

I'm really glad I watched this movie. The characters, the music, the setting and the visuals were all top notch and the whole thing was super charming. I was also really surprised that the talking snowman wasn't annoying. He was actually pretty funny.
And as of this moment I still have not gotten sick of hearing Let it Go.
So it seems Frozen has won an Oscar. Normally that would be good news but it feels kinda cheap when the people voting for it didn't even watch all of the nominees. One was quoted as saying animation is for six year olds, another voted for Frozen simply because it's a Disney movie. The others didn't even have a chance.
It feels really unfair.

Yeah. But that's not really a surprise. The Academy is made up of Senior-Aged film actors and industry people, who just don't understand and don't care to.
I saw The Wind Rises (Studio Ghibli/Miyazaki) last Sunday. It was really Frozen's only real competition in my opinion (Croods and Despicable Me 2 were fun and all but..) and while it was a beautiful film inside and out, I think Frozen was just a better film. It had stronger characters for one thing. A better use of its theme too.
So, putting the Academy's old farty opinions of animation to the side (and maybe off a cliff), I think the award went to the right movie.

The people who didn't watch them all abstained from voting so I don't really see it as unfair. Still, that one guy who went on his little tirade about animation in general being unworthy of praise sounded really immature. I'm pretty sure I got past the 'I'm a big boy who doesn't watch kid's stuff!' stage when I was about 13 or 14 and I think he's probably a lot older than that. I mean, wouldn't a simple 'I haven't seen all the movies' do? I'm genuinely stumped at how that guy made it on to the Academy with that attitude.
Personally I think Madoka Rebellion was probably better than Frozen but even putting aside that it's a direct sequel to the series it would be a cold day in hell when a non Miyazaki anime gets any substantial recognition for its quality. I haven't seen Wind Rises yet because I wasn't able to attend the limited screenings of the movie but I do think Frozen feels like Oscar worthy stuff. It's also a darn sight better than The Croods so there's that too.

The Wind Rises is on wide release now! (I didn't see the limited screenings, It's a miracle for an anime movie to get a limited screening in Houston I swear) i dunno for how long, but I think it's still in theaters. The dub's not that bad either.
In other Frozen news, there's a little girl who lives a couple doors down from me and she was singing "Let it Go" loud enough for all the neighbors to hear. It was pretty adorable.

I just checked and you're right. But I still have to go all the way up to Sydney if I want to see it.

I'm glad Frozen won to be honest. It's not the best film in the world, but it's a good movie. The songs were more memorable to me than the songs from Tangled. Grant it the only one I truly remember is Let it Go, but that's because everyone is going crazy over it. Glad it won the Oscar because people would raise hell if it didn't win. Anyway I can see myself singing most of the songs than the Tangled songs.
I don't know, but Frozen made me felt good. It's been awhile since a Disney movie made me felt good. I felt like Disney was going back their roots. I could be wrong though.

I bought it on Blu Ray >.>
We only have one Blu Ray machine in the house and it tends to work when it wants to work. However I said why not and got it on Blu Ray anyway. It has a DVD version so if the Blu Ray machine decides to kill itself I can still watch the movie.

I got the Blu Ray + DVD + Digital combo pack. I probably won't be using the DVD much since I can watch the digital copy on my computer and the Blu Ray in my room.
