PostSubject: Ojamjo Doremi   Ojamjo Doremi EmptySun Oct 13, 2013 2:34 pm

Has anyone seen series this? It's a childrens magical girl series and it's one of the best!

Ojamajo Doremi consists of 4 series and 1 OVA and 2 short movies. It's about a group of girls trying become witches! They use their magic to help their classmates and families. It's a really down to earth series that has no real villain and teaches kids meaningful life lessons.

The series titles:
Ojamajo Doremi: 1st series
Ojamajo Doremi Sharp: 2nd series
Motto Ojamajo Doremi: 3rd series
Ojamajo Doremi Naisho: The OVA that takes place between the 3rd and 4th series. You dont need to watch this before the 4th because it came out after the 4th.
Ojamajo Doremi Dokkan: 4th series.

The 1st movie takes place in the 2nd series and the 2nd movie takes place in the 3rd series.

I really recommended this series to anyone! Warning some episodes will make you cry because this series does not dumb down life lessons to kids. Somethings get pretty hard. All the series but Dokkan have been subbed. I believe the subbing group is half through Dokkan. I havent been following them for awhile. They are the only subbing group and right now it is so hard to find someone uploading Dokkan to video sites. >.< That's why I am out of the loop!

It IS one of the best shows I've ever seen. One of the most addictive.

I watched the first three seasons in the span of just a few months and after 150+ episodes I wasn't bored at all. Some episodes were kind of annoying but otherwise it was an almost entirely enjoyable ride.

And now, after eight years the time has come. Doremi Fansubs has completed the final episodes of Dokkan.

Oh wow so they finally finished it.

Like Ami, I'm not a fan of downloading episodes to my computer. so I hope someone uploads them somewhere soon~ (The site I was using dropped off at Dokkan episode 10, so I need a reliable streaming site for the rest)

I've been a big fan of Doremi since I was in high school, but I actually tried to watch it all in Japanese this past year starting from where 4kids TV dub left off haha. I was hesitant at first because of the episode count, but man oh man was I surprised at how fast I was just plowing through episodes. It blew my mind at how well written it was.

This is it folks. I'm at the last stretch of the show.

Three more episodes to go, and the last four in a row were all tearjerkers.

It's only gonna get worse from here.

The fact that I myself have to say goodbye to these wonderful, lovable characters isn't even an issue compared to what's going on within the show's content itself.

I'm pretty sure I'm gonna die from sad overdose.

I wonder about that...

Certainly I think it's admirable when a show tries to instill good values in its audience, especially when they're kids, but I can't help but think that Ojamajo Doremi does a kind of bad job of this.  Granted, it's now been a while (well, it's been like half a year anyway) since I watched it and I don't remember all of the exact problems I had with it (and I only ever watched season one so far, so I don't know how the later seasons differ).  Basically, I remember there being a lot of instances of characters doing something to offend another character but not understanding what they did wrong.  And then rather than try to actually figure out what they did wrong and why it hurt the other person, they just give a generic apology and then suddenly everything is all better.  Like, surely the lesson you should teach kids is that they should actually, sincerely, be sorry when they do something wrong, and not just say "I'm sorry" as a replacement for actually reflecting on what they did and trying to make up for it.

Also there was this one episode where a character was basically a huge kaiju otaku to the point where it was hurting his relationships with his friends and family.  But then the resolution ends up being that the Ojamajos use magic to let him indulge in his fantasy and everyone else apologizes to him for... I don't even know what.

I was also a little bit disappointed with how Onpu was handled, but this isn't really the fault of the show, it's just an unfortunate result of being a kids' show.  But basically there was this sort of interesting thing when she was first introduced about how everyone was only interested in her because she's famous and it almost hinted at a lot of interesting themes that I would love to have seen explored in anime that isn't Perfect Blue.  On the other hand, these are themes explored in Perfect Blue, so it's obvious it wouldn't necessarily fit so well in Ojamajo Doremi.

But on a positive note, I like all the character designs, and it's great fun watching a show about cute magical girls doing cute magic without having to worry about stuff like saving the world.  Also, I love the OP and ED.

I'm finally getting around to finish this series. Of course the people who fansubbed Doremi are now releasing it in soft subs.

So I'm finally getting around to watching this series now that Doremi are releasing it in mkv format with soft subs. 7 episodes in and I'm really enjoying it.

At the start it sort of felt like Fairly Odd Parents with an episodic format where Doremi uses her powers to wish for dumb things and the moral of the episode being based around said wish only slightly less wacky and a lot more focus on drama. However, it's pretty obvious that the show is going in a completely different direction.

It has been consistently enjoyable so far with a good sense of humour (Doremi's parents crack me up), a really likeable cast (Even some of the minor characters like Aiko's Dad) and some good themes. I feel like I enjoy the set up a bit more than the Monster of the Week sort of thing that Sailor Moon popularised and Precure inherited. So overall I'm excited to see where it goes.

This show works magic with its minor  cast. No pun intended. I find myself wondering what this show had that Precure lacked, and I think it comes down to the lack of monster of the week stuff.

Doremi and friends are able to get to the root of the character's problem and use their magic to help solve it specifically, rather than talking to the character and letting them putter around until the villain shows up to make them into a monster of the week. Then when the monster is purified, the character's problem seems to get solved right away.

But yea. Ojamajo Doremi is a one of a kind anime. It's the only anime I've been able to willingly marathon more than ten episodes in a single day. Now that I've finished all two hundred or so episodes, I miss it. Rewatching it would be an incredibly daunting task though.

I remember watching the first few episodes of this years ago, and I loved it. I really want to try watching it again now, but I can't seem to find the first season subtitled anywhere.  Cry Does anyone perhaps know where I can watch the first season without having to download? I'm not interested in the 4kids dub, either.
